Today, the Trump administration subpoenaed records relating to the Arizona State Senate’s 2020 audit of Maricopa County. Following this subpoena, Stephen Richer, a legal fellow with the Cato Institute and former recorder for Maricopa County, released the following statement:

“Federal law enforcement has seemingly sought, and received, the digital materials held by the Arizona state senate president Warren Petersen that were used for the six-month examination done by the Cyber Ninjas. That experiment was an embarrassment for all associated with it, including the Cyber Ninjas, which went bankrupt shortly after. Why anyone would want to reopen that chapter in Arizona history is beyond me. It will lead to further embarrassment and no evidence of criminality or material inaccuracy in the 2020 election.”
