The good news is that Todd Blanche confirmed in writing that the anti-weaponization slush fund is dead. The bad news is that tax immunity for the president, his sons, and his family business is still alive. Presidential immunity from IRS scrutiny was the product of an illegal settlement – a collusive settlement for which (1) the President’s personal attorney was referred to the state bar for sanctions and in which (2) Todd Blanche appeared to ignore his fiduciary duties. Tomorrow, the Senate will decide whether Todd Blanche should formally become the nation’s attorney general – a position that he has already demonstrated he is unqualified for.
