New York Attorney General Letitia James has initiated the seizure of Donald Trump’s assets following his failure to post a required $454 million appeal bond to cover a civil fraud judgment. 

• Asset seizures began in late December 2025, with a federal court issuing an emergency nationwide asset freeze.  This freeze applied to Trump’s bank accounts, business entities, properties, and investments across all jurisdictions.

• Key properties under seizure include:

  • Trump Tower in Manhattan

  • Seven Springs estate in Westchester County

  • 40 Wall Street and 1290 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan

  • Multiple golf courses and residential properties across the U.S.

• Trump’s financial structure is highly complex, involving over 500 limited liability companies (LLCs) and interlocking trusts, making asset liquidation legally and logistically challenging. 

• Banks and lenders are prioritized—mortgages on seized properties (e.g., $200 million on 40 Wall Street) must be paid before New York receives any proceeds. 

• Trump’s personal cash reserves (estimated at $75–100 million) were frozen, and his ability to operate the Trump Organization has been halted. 

• The seizure process is ongoing, with state authorities now controlling revenue streams (e.g., rent from tenants) and preventing asset sales or refinancing. 

• Trump is currently in federal custody on criminal charges, including war crimes and murder, and cannot access funds or manage his business affairs.
