Tesla Cybertruck FSD release expected for Sept, Park Assist to come first
It appears that Tesla owners’ long wait for the release of the Cybertruck’s Full Self Driving (FSD) features is about to come to an end. This was hinted at in social media platform X by Tesla Director of Autopilot Software Ashok Elluswamy.
The Cybertruck, with its 48-volt architecture and steer-by-wire system, is arguably the most advanced vehicle in Tesla’s lineup today. Despite this, the vehicle has so far been delivered to customers without any driver-assist features. It is then unsurprising that the Tesla community is eagerly waiting for updates about when the Cybertruck will receive features like FSD, or at least basic Autopilot.
Fortunately, the Tesla Autopilot Director did provide a pretty concrete timeline for FSD’s rollout to the all-electric pickup truck. As per Elluswamy, Park Assist will be released for the Cybertruck as early as the end of the week, and FSD will follow sometime next month.
“Not the easiest vehicle to park”
Calling me complicated, ok!

“Cybertruck will start with parking assistance features, given that it ain’t exactly the easiest vehicle to park. Initial release is slated for end of this week. FSD for Cybertruck expected in Sep(tember),” the Tesla Autopilot Director wrote in his post. The Tesla executive’s post prompted a number of humorous responses from fellow Tesla employees, as well as the Cybertruck’s official X account.
Elluswamy’s comment on X seemingly suggests that Tesla would be adopting a staggered release strategy for the Cybertruck’s driver-assist features. With Park Assist being the first to be released, it would not be surprising if other basic Autopilot functions like lane keep assist and autosteer were also rolled out to the vehicle before FSD’s planned release in September.

Quite interestingly, the Autopilot Director’s estimate for FSD’s release for the Cybertruck actually lines up with CEO Elon Musk’s forecast a few months ago. Back in May, Musk noted that FSD for the Cybertruck was still “a few months away.”
The eager anticipation among Cybertruck owners today for FSD’s release is understandable, especially since the electric vehicle maker is still only producing Foundation Series units of the all-electric pickup truck. As can be seen on the vehicle’s order page, FSD is included in all Cybertruck Foundation Series units.
