Pro-Terrorism Groups to Protest Trump Inauguration

Two overlapping coalitions of pro-terrorism groups are planning protests in Washington, DC, on January 20 when President Donald Trump is inaugurated for his second term. The groups involved include endorsers of Hamas and the October 7 atrocities, supporters of the Iranian and North Korean governments, entities that favor Russia over Ukraine, and organizations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

We Fight Back Coalition

The first coalition has announced We Fight Back protests on January 20. The People’s Forum, a pro-Hamas group closely linked to the Chinese Communist Party, is hosting the official webpage and is fundraising for the event.

According to National Park Service documents provided to Capital Research Center by Richard Pollock, the group that applied for the permit is another China-linked, pro-Hamas group, ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition. ANSWER states in its application that it expects 15,000 attendees and requests a permit covering January 19–21, not just Inauguration Day.

Almost every single one of the protests’ initial convenors is identified as a pro-terrorism group in the Capital Research Center’s Marching Towards Violence report that exposed the extremist infrastructure behind the anti-Israel protests across the country.

The Forum directly instigated destructive rioting in April when it hosted over 100 anti-Israel protestors in its New York office and urged them to copy “the summer of 2020.” They began destroying property at Columbia University merely hours later.

The Forum has also instructed its audience to go to CUNY to “ensure that student protestors can hold their ground” against an expected police crackdown on the anti-Israel demonstrations. Its social media pages consistently glorify and amplify acts of criminality and violence committed by anti-Israel and anti-American protestors.

ANSWER signed a statement declaring its endorsement of the Iran-led “Axis of Resistance” coalition of terrorist groups like Hamas and siding with Russia over Ukraine. It also has links to the Chinese Communist Party, such as being fiscally sponsored by the China-tied Progress Unity Fund.

The initial convenors who can be confidently described as pro-terrorism include People’s Forum, ANSWER, US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), Palestinian Youth Movement, the Chinese Communist Party-linked CODEPINK, Palestinian Feminist Collective, Party for Socialism and Liberation presidential nominee Claudia De La Cruz, Artists Against Apartheid, Diaspora Pa’lante Collective and the pro-North Korea Nodutdol.

Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein is also listed as an initial convenor. Stein chose a Hamas supporter as her running mate in this year’s election. Her response to the October 7 rampage was not to condemn the attacks as acts of terrorism, but to suggest that they were legitimate acts of self-defense. She wrote, “When a murderous occupation makes peaceful resistance impossible, it makes violent resistance inevitable.”

January 20 Coalition

Michael Kelly of the January 20 Coalition applied for a permit on January 20 and estimated its expected attendance as 5,000. The application says “The January 20 coalition is made up of organizers which demonstrated at the 2024 RNC and the 2024 DNC.”

It is referring to the Coalitions to March on the DNC and RNC that was exposed as a pro-terrorism network by Capital Research Center, whose investigation of the nearly 300 groups determined that at least 162 qualified as extremist groups and supported terrorism or identified as Marxist, communist or anarchist.

Those coalitions appeared to be spearheaded by the pro-Hamas USPCN and the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR), which identifies USCPN as an “affiliate organization.” Both are pro-Hamas.

USPCN was the subject of a FBI counter-terrorism investigation in 2011, reportedly due to evidence linking it to the Iran-backed, Marxist-Leninist terrorist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. USPCN’s leader expressed his staunch support for Middle Eastern terrorist groups during the protest against the RNC, declaring that they will destroy Israel and be victorious over “the U.S. empire” that is “on its last legs.”

NAARPR endorsed the Hamas-led October 7 attacks as “a morally and legally justified self-defense campaign.”

It has even threatened to become violent itself, saying it “pledges to (politically and physically, if necessary) defend the democratic rights of all Palestinians and supporters who are coming under government, Zionist, and law enforcement attack in the U.S. and everywhere else.”

Planned Regardless of Election Outcome

The Washington Post reported in October that groups were already planning to protest the inauguration regardless of who wins the presidential election. It named USCPN as one such group and said its leader, Hatem Abudayyeh, believes that there is no difference between Trump and his opponent on foreign policy: “The whole world will be watching on that day and we’re not going to allow them only to watch a celebration,” Abudayyeh said. “We want to force them to be watching the mass movement.”

This statement shows that the pro-terrorism seditionist movement in the U.S. defies the binary left-versus-right paradigm. The objective is sparking an anti-government insurgency, and both political parties are seen as components of an inherently evil capitalist system that upholds “colonialism.” Most equate the U.S. with Israel and believe that both are equally illegitimate, unworthy of existence, and occupying indigenous land that must be forcibly liberated.

“Feisty Resistance”

The Post also quoted Lacy MacAuley as a “local activist” who was an “organizer” of the protests against Trump’s inauguration in 2017.

What the Post didn’t report is that she identifies as an anarchist, anti-fascist, and “accomplice.” Anarchist anti-fascists are often called Antifa. Antifa ideologues use the term “accomplice” to refer to those who engage in their “direct actions,” which are usually criminal and often violent acts targeting opponents that Antifa brands as “fascist.”

MacAuley told the newspaper that the 2017 protests she helped organized is “that kind of feisty resistance, I believe, is what we are going to see again if Donald Trump wins the election.”

The branding of the protests as “We Fight Back” may be meant more literally than would normally be assumed.
