This is becoming an everyday part of life in Sweden. Around 04:30 Saturday morning, a powerful explosion went off outside an apartment building in an upscale area of southern Stockholm. Two people were slightly injured, and police are investigating the cause. Numerous windows were shattered.

A powerful explosion occurred at a multiple-family building near Globen in southern Stockholm early Saturday. Two persons were slightly injured, according to police.

Just after 04:30, an emergency alarm was sounded about a large bang in Johanneshov.

According to police something was detonated next to a multi-family building, and windows of several apartments were shattered. A gate also sustained extensive damage. Two persons were slightly injured.

“It is some form of cuts. They have been patched up,” says police spokesperson, Anna Westberg to TT (news) in regards to the injured persons.

“Woke up in shock”

A preliminary investigation has been initiated into public danger devastation.

Rescue services for now, have not issued any evacuation order, but a nearby premises is being kept open for residents who wish to seek shelter there.

“It was a real explosion. All the windows were shattered, and we woke up in shock,” says Axel Berglund Helm, who lives in the house that was damaged in the explosion.

During the night, there was also a smaller explosion in Segeltorp. According to rescue services, it was probably some sort of firework.

During Saturday morning, there was also information of yet another explosion in Årsta. However, the police have not had time to determine what or if anything detonated.
