“Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate on a regular schedule for Friday, January 17, 2025 with no buses on icy roads.”
NANTAHALA SCHOOL
“No announcement was made, so schools will be operating on a regular schedule.”
HIGHLANDS SCHOOL
“Highlands School will operate on a one-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, January 17. School will begin at 9:00 AM.
Please do not drop off students before 8:30 AM to ensure proper access to the building and adequate supervision. Buses will run their regular routes, but there will be no service on icy roads. ”
GENERAL OUTLOOK
A moderating westerly flow of air and sunny skies will return temperatures to around normal today. Low pressure moving across the region will provide widespread rain, with pockets of a wintry mix across portions of the mountains, late tonight into Saturday before arctic high pressure returns early next week bringing a much colder airmass.
