PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) – Parents in Penfield were raising concerns Tuesday night saying the school board is not listening to their feedback.
This stems from allegations that a kindergartener came home with a book that has illustrations of men and women at a pride parade wearing limited or no clothing. The book in question is ‘The Rainbow Parade’ by Emily Neilson.
Parents tell News 8 they were planning to express their concerns when the school board called a recess.
During the meeting a school board official stated these librarians follow strict curriculum that shows them what is allowed for specific ages and students. The district also outlined its policy for expressing concerns about reading material and claimed no written complaints were submitted.
