Soros Funds Islamist Extremist Groups in U.S. and Abroad, European Media Reports

In a new low for leftwing billionaire George Soros and his Open Society Foundations (OSF) the Hungarian philanthropist, who has invested huge sums to promote a radical globalist agenda, is funding entities associated with Islamist extremists in the United States, Europe and the Middle East under the pretext of human rights and combatting racism. Citing records uncovered by a foreign research institute, various European media outlets report that “millions of euros in funding” from OSF have gone to groups that “function as front organizations or intermediaries for the Muslim Brotherhood in their respective regions.” Most of the terrorist groups have received over a million dollars each from OSF and the money has been used for “political or ideological influence” and to support extremist networks, the records show.

OSF is directly linked to factions known to operate as fronts or intermediaries for the Muslim Brotherhood—one of the world’s most influential Islamist groups—throughout the world, according to research cited in one European news story. The extremist organizations with ties to Soros include the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the European Network Against Racism (ENAR). In Palestinian territories terrorist organizations such as Al-Haq and Al-Mezan, led by figures connected to the jihadist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), have received millions of dollars from OSF. In Europe, extremist platforms such as FEMYSO (Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations) and the Collective Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) have also received financial support from Soros. CCIF was dissolved by French authorities a few years ago for its extremist links, which include provoking acts of terrorism in France and abroad.

“These organizations are said to have received substantial sums—some exceeding $1 million—under the guise of combating Islamophobia or promoting human rights, but which were allegedly partly redirected toward ideological activities or political-religious influence,” according to the story, published by Spain’s La Gaceta. OSF used activism and purported social causes to influence media, public opinion, and policies to ideologically benefit the Muslim Brotherhood—which advocates for terrorism against the west and is known as the parent organization of Hamas an Al Qaeda—and its operational branches throughout the world. The thinktank that published the report calls it “an informal Islamic soft power structure serving specific ideological interests under the guise of progressive and humanitarian activism.” A Dutch news story describes it as a complex structure of subsidized organizations that serve as a conduit for political and religious influence. The Netherlands article further reveals that OSF, which has long profiled itself as a defender of human rights and democracy, has failed to respond to the “allegations.”

Soros dedicates huge sums of money to advance a radical globalist agenda in every corner of the world under the cloak of supporting democratically elected governments, strengthening the rule of law, and promoting fairness in political, legal, and economic systems. This is of interest to American taxpayers because the U.S. government has helped finance many of OSF’s initiatives and Judicial Watch has documented it extensively in detailed reports, news articles and other material. A few years ago, Judicial Watch published a special report on the financial and staffing nexus between OSF and the U.S. government, exposing tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars that have gone to Soros’ programs both domestically and abroad. A separate Judicial Watch investigation uncovered another OSF operation in Guatemala to promote a radical globalist agenda in the impoverished Latin American nation through “lawfare” and political subversion. OSF funded liberal media outlets, supported global politicians, advocated for open borders, fomented public discourse, and influenced academic institutions with the help of other entities funded by Uncle Sam. Our investigation identified more than a dozen groups, their mission and ties to Soros’ OSF. Judicial Watch also uncovered a scheme in which the U.S. government quietly spent millions of taxpayer dollars to destabilize the democratically elected, center-right government in Macedonia by colluding with Soros groups in the Balkan nation.
