Germany: Eritrean Charged with Brutal Attack on Two Women

In the morning of August 25, in the town of Horb am Neckar (Baden-Württemberg), two women were brutally attacked by a man wielding a metal pole, seriously injuring his victims, who were hospitalized. A 27-year-old man from Eritrea is now facing charges for the attack. He has reportedly been living in Germany since 2015.

One day after the crime in Unteren Marktplatz at Horber Gutermannstrasse, the suspect, a 27-year-old, was brought before the sitting judge at the Rottweil District Court. As the Pforzheim Police Presidium and the Rottweil State Prosecutor’s Office report, a custodial order was issued. The suspect is now in pre-trial custody on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, as well as the existing danger of flight.
After initially not giving information as to the nationality, it is reported that he has Eritrean nationality. “He is an asylum-seeker who has lived in Germany since 2015 and has also worked here,” the report states.
Police and the State Prosecutor’s Office believe that on early Monday morning, the accused took a metal pole used as a barrier and used it to hit two women, ages 41 and 31. According to the report, the 41-year-old is out of danger. The 31-year-old was also seriously injured. The exact motive of the crime is the object of further investigation.
