CRC in the News: The future of the Soros empire, a“transgender extreme veganism cult” … and more
The Capital Research Center’s work has appeared in several media accounts over the last two weeks.
New York Post: Worse than Antifa: Inside the new breed of ultra-extremist groups dedicated to chaos, violence — and even alleged murder
CRC’s Ryan Mauro was extensively quoted in this August 27 report. Here’s a sample:
Members of the Zizians, a transgender extreme veganism cult, are accused of going on a multi-state killing spree, claiming six lives.
“It’s a seditionist movement, where they are all in one box and they all believe a civil war, instability, and burning the country down will bring in this greater era of prosperity that they think they’re going to implement,” Ryan Mauro, an extremist group investigator for the nonprofit Capital Research, told the Post.
“It’s more than just a consequence of general radicalism increasing on all sides. It’s part of an actual plan and a strategy. When you look at their internal communications, they describe themselves as guerrillas and insurgents by their own declaration,” he added of this new class of extremist cells.
National Review: Does Big Labor Truly Represent the American Worker?
This special Labor Day message from CRC’s Mike Watson reached this conclusion: “Those hoping to hear workers’ voices need to find an alternative to union bosses who have shown they barely speak for their members and their families, much less all laborers.”
Committee to Unleash Prosperity: Bill Gates Stops Funding Left-Wing Mothership Arabella
This August 29 report concluded with this recommendation for CRC’s book on the subject: “If you want to read a good book on Arabella, we suggest a great book Arabella by Scott Walter.”
The Daily Signal: Is George Soros’ Influence Beginning to Diminish?
This August 29 podcast was an interview with CRC’s Kristen Eastlick:
One group that has done an exquisite job of following this work all the way to the point of publishing a book on who Arabella Advisors is the Capital Research Center. Kristen Eastlick, senior vice president of the center, sat down with The Daily Signal at the State Policy Network annual meeting to tell us breaking news that George Soros—and more importantly, Alex Soros—may not have the money, and therefore, the influence, they used to have.
The Post Millennial: Trump says George Soros, son should be slapped with RICO charges
This August 27 report featured a quote from CRC’s InfluenceWatch page for George Soros:
Influence Watch says that Soros “advocates for regulations to expand the role of the federal government in the United States, ostensibly to reduce market instability.” They also state that “Soros has funded the vast majority of the most prominent left-progressive advocacy groups in the United States.”
Washington Examiner: The uncertain fate of the Soros empire
CRC’s Parker Thayer provided background for this August 20 report:
In 2021, Soros Fund Management, of which Alex is the only family member sitting on its investment committee, bet big on a startup electric vehicle company called Rivian, investing $2 billion to buy 19.8 million shares. The score marked one of the largest one-off investments in the firm’s portfolio.
Within a year, Rivian shares were selling for only $18, and SFM sold at a steep loss of more than 10 million shares, or 75% of its stake. SFM’s total losses are estimated to have climbed to over $1 billion. The website HedgeFollow, which ranks U.S. hedge funds, recently rated Soros Fund Management’s performance as 0.5 out of 5 stars, one of the least successful ratings in the country.
“I would say that Alex is ill-equipped to take on any of his father’s mantels,” Parker Thayer of the Capital Research Center, an influence watchdog, told the Washington Examiner. “He has no talent for investing, as his billion-dollar losses in Rivian prove, and Soros Fund Management is now one of the worst-performing funds in America.”
Blaze Media: Cracker Barrel’s long history of cozying up to left-leaning organizations exposed
Another InfluenceWatch profile, this one of the Human Rights Campaign, was featured in this August 24 report:
The Human Rights Campaign is described as being the “nation’s largest LGBT-interest activist organization” and having a “leading role in Democratic Party politics and left-leaning activism” by InfluenceWatch — an organization that provides “accurate descriptions of all of the various influencers of public policy issues.”
The Dallas Express: UNT Marxist Cell Targets Students With Communist Ideology At Back-to-School Event
This August 20 report quoted the InfluenceWatch profile of the Revolutionary Communist International:
RCA is an offshoot of Revolutionary Communist International, active in 70 different countries. According to InfluenceWatch, RCI sprang up from groups founded by the late “Trotskyist” Ted Grant.
Washington Examiner: In historic shift, National Endowment for the Humanities funds academics with conservative ties
This August 22 report quoted CRC’s Sarah Lee:
Sarah Lee, director of communications at the Capital Research Center, perhaps preempting critiques from the Left, told the Washington Examiner that “for these grants to be a problem, one would need to accept the premise that they are ideological or political and pushing activism rather than the academic study of the documented historical role Christianity played in the nation’s founding.”
CBN: Middle East Minority Faith Communities Under Threat of Extinction
Ryan Mauro was quoted in this August 18 report from the Christian Broadcasting Network:
Was this a rare occurrence, or is the threat of annihilation for Syria’s Christian minority growing? Will Ahmed Al Sharaa’s government make a difference?”
After the massacre of minority Alawites and others last March, and in light of the deaths of over 1,000 minority Druze in tribal violence in southern Syria last month, Al Sharaa turned to Turkish President Erdogan for military assistance. He requested military equipment and training to help protect religious minorities.
Ryan Mauro from the Capital Research Center is skeptical of Western leaders who speak as if al-Sharaa won an election; that’s because if he were to hold an election today, Mauro believes it is likely he would lose because both religious minorities and Muslim extremists dislike him.
“So, who’s left? Oh, the Muslim Brotherhood. You know, maybe he’s moving in that direction because it’s been so successful now. They’re not going to accept him either, because he’s talking about normalizing ties with Israel. And even if it’s a trick, he’s gone way too far. He’s taking a step beyond what they would even say is permissible by deception,” Mauro explained.
