Forgiveness Does Not Negate Accountability
If one person chooses to forgive another, it is a personal choice and doesn’t impose an obligation on others affected by the same harmful act.
Charlie Kirk’s assassination is something that affects us all. This was an assault on everything that we stand for. These evil people hate everything that we stand for and sent a message by killing a very moderate conservative who was willing to engage and just debate ideas with them in public.
It is entirely possible, and often healthy, to forgive someone while also holding them accountable for their actions. While nobody ever seems to be held accountable, this time should be different. These evil people in our country are going to continue to hunt down those of us who will not bend the knee to their delusional worldview.
Forgiveness is a personal process that frees you from anger and resentment, whereas accountability addresses the wrongdoing itself, often seeking justice, change, and preventing future harm. If we just go back to our every day lives and continue to say, “just don’t do it again” what do you think is going to happen? This should have been a wake-up call for many, instead it appears we’re just going to walk away from it because, you know, the big football games are taking place.
Letting the other people who harm you, to take advantage of you, to disrespect you, it feels like that “turn the other cheek” is telling the people who harm you that there are no consequences for their harmful actions to you, that there is no justice for the harm done to you. And that is exactly what is happening. These evil people will become more emboldened in their evil ways, because they see that there truly is no consequences for their actions. When we turn the other cheek we just get hit on the other cheek. When is enough going to be enough?
We need to recognize the harm caused by these evil people and start taking steps to address it, which should include seeking justice, either by our hands or the authorities. However, those who are supposed to enforce our laws seldom do. We need to ensure that such harm doesn’t happen again.
Seeking accountability can ensure that victims receive justice and that wrongdoers face the consequences of their actions, which can help prevent further harm. Apparently, we have forgotten that in a polite society people must be held responsible for their wrongdoings.
So many say “God will be their final judgment”. However, that doesn’t make life any easier for those of us in the here and now.
“When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” That means all of us, not just one person. One person alone can’t do what needs to be done. We are faced with a great evil and there is only one way to solve it. We have to eliminate them. Every last one of them. We can’t coexist with these people. What needs to be done, needs to be biblical. The stories told of what we did to restore goodness in the world needs to be told for thousands upon thousands of years. They never need to forget and allow evil like this to rise again. It will take all of us uniting. It will take all of us to defeat this great evil.
Bringing goodness back into this world for our children is worth it. Restoring our honor is worth it. We have reached a point where the law is inadequate. Our justice system is utterly corrupt. It is time to act outside of the law. We need to pursue a natural justice. We need to dish out punishment on our terms. This evil, deserves our punishment.
May God Have Mercy On Us All.
