London’s “Muslim Only” Housing

People of other faiths need not apply.

Landlords are illegally advertising for “Muslim only” tenants across London and the south-east, an investigation by The Telegraph has found. The listings, posted on Facebook, Gumtree and Telegram, a social media and messaging channel, feature phrases such as “only for Muslims”, “for 2 Muslim boys or 2 Muslim girls” and “Muslims preferred”…. On Facebook, a company called Roshan Properties, which also has a TikTok account, had dozens of listings stating “prefer Muslim boy”, “one double room is available for Muslims” and “suitable for Punjabi boy”…. All the advertisements appear to breach the Equality Act 2010, which prohibits discrimination based on religion or belief, race and other protected characteristics. Landlords who breach the act can be brought to a civil court by a tenant or prospective tenant (Telegraph).

Watch to see if there’s any enforcement of the Equality Act 2010. If British authorities and law enforcement allowed hundreds of thousands of non-Muslim girls to be raped and trafficked by Muslim gangs for decades for fear of “islamophobia” and “racism.” I highly doubt Muslim landlords will face prosecution.

Anywhere Western law and Islamic law conflict, it’s Western law that must give way.

UK landlords advertising ‘Muslim only’ housing in potential violation of discrimination laws

British landlords are allegedly advertising “Muslim only” rentals to prospective tenants around London in a clear violation of the country’s housing discrimination laws, according to a report.

Dozens of listings shared across multiple social media sites featured the strict religious requirements for renters in London and south-east England, the Telegraph reported.

“Only for Muslims,” “for 2 Muslim boys or 2 Muslim girls,” and “Muslims preferred” were listed on the advertisements, according to the outlet.

One such post specified that a one-bedroom living space was available for “girls” and suitable for “Gujarati Muslim Student.”

The Facebook post mentioned that the apartment was “ready to move now” and was close to a mosque.

Some of the restrictions for the available housing included “alcohol and smoke-free,” the outlet reported.

The advertisements are potentially in violation of the UK’s Equality Act 2010, which protects citizens against discrimination based on religion or belief, race and other protected characteristics.

“Muslim only” or similar restrictions fall under the violating measures.

One such post specified that a one-bedroom living space was available for “girls” and suitable for “Gujarati Muslim Student.”

Landlords are not in violation of the law if they are renting out space in their individual homes and searching for tenants who fit a certain lifestyle or religious requirements — if sharing a bathroom or kitchen.

The possible biased housing listings were blasted for catering to one certain religious group and not being open to all citizens.

“These adverts are disgusting and anti-British. It goes without saying that there would be a national outrage if the tables were turned,” Robert Jenrick, Reform UK’s economic spokesman, told The Telegraph. “All forms of racism are unacceptable, and no religious group should get a special exemption to discriminate in this way.”

The outlet reached out to several numbers attached to the listings and were turned away each time they asked the renter if they accepted “non-Muslim” tenants.

Some of the listings were removed from Facebook after they were questioned by the report.

Gumtree, a leading online marketplace in the UK, noted that most of the rental spaces listed were for rooms in a private dwelling from renters looking for people with similar lifestyle restrictions as them.

“We take reports of inappropriate listings very seriously,” a company spokesperson told the Telegraph. “The ads referenced appear to relate to private rooms within shared homes, where existing occupants may express preferences about who they live with. This is different from renting out an entire property, which is subject to stricter rules under the Equality Act.”
