Los Angeles Leads Nation in Massive Population Exodus as ‘Breaking Point’ Hits California

NY Post: Tens of thousands of residents are fleeing Los Angeles County, raising fresh questions about the region’s future as economic pressures mount.

The region recorded the largest population drop of any in the nation between July 2024 and July 2025, according to newly released estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The data, published March 26, shows roughly 54,000 residents left the county during that one-year period. The losses mark a continuation of a steady slide for the nation’s most populous county.

Another iconic American city is being destroyed by the Democrat Party. After years of incompetent governance, corruption, high taxes, high crime, increasing living costs, declining opportunity, and a rapidly declining quality of life, the once spectacular City of Angels is reaching a breaking point. Thousands of people are leaving Los Angeles every year. This exodus will no doubt result in declining tax revenue that this struggling city needs. Expect the population exodus out of Los Angeles to continue. No rational person could live in such a dysfunctional city. Miami will certainly reap the rewards of this exodus.

As one commenter pointed out,. “These numbers actually understate the problem, because those leaving have higher incomes and pay more taxes than the arrivals, who have a much greater tendency to be net burdens on public services. ”

Los Angeles County, once the symbol of American prosperity and Hollywood dreams, has earned the title of the nation’s leader in population loss.

The latest U.S. Census data shows shows that between July 1, 2024, and July 1, 2025, 53,421 residents left the county, marking the largest decline in the U.S. Additionally, Los Angeles County has fallen from about 10 million residents in 2020 to roughly 9.7 million today.
