Seattle Residents Put Up Barricades To Keep Gun Fire Out
It’s not like all the criminals in Seattle can’t walk into the toney and high falutin neighborhoods, but, this is Liberal World. So, anyway, shot
After weeks of gunfire near their homes, some North Seattle residents have taken matters into their own hands — building and placing makeshift barricades in neighborhood streets they said have become susceptible to gun violence spilling off Aurora Avenue.
Residents near North 98th Street and Linden Avenue North spent part of the Memorial Day weekend piling dirt, gravel, logs and chunks of concrete into roadblocks that now partially block access to three residential streets near Aurora Ave.
Supporters of the barriers said they are desperate to stop shootings they believe are tied to prostitution-related activity along the Aurora corridor. Opponents argue the barricades could slow firefighters, medics and other emergency responders trying to reach homes in the area.
Nowhere in any of the stories have I read about the shots coming from people driving through. Also, they never seem to mention who is doing all the shooting and prostitution and such (illegals, perhaps?). Or that guns are heavily regulated in Dem run Washington and Seattle. But, hey, here’s a chaser after learning the barriers could be illegal
Seattle weighs city-installed barriers after residents block roads to deter shootings
A series of streets barricaded by neighbors to prevent gun violence outside their homes may remain blocked if Seattle city officials agree to install their own barriers, potentially resuming a stalled program that began in the summer of 2024.
Prostitution, gangs, and gun violence have been colliding along Seattle’s Aurora Avenue in a dangerous display of recurring shootings. Gun battles tied to turf wars have sent bullets down side streets, striking people’s homes and coming dangerously close to young children.
“I’ve had a gun pointed at my house. I’ve had bullets hit my fence. Two feet higher and it would have hit my kid’s window,” said Andrew Steelsmith, who lives near Aurora Avenue.
The barriers are meant to keep people from cruising at high speed through the neighborhoods after shootings and such. Suddenly the city is changing its mind. I wonder why? Too many high end voters in the area?
(Fox 13) As an immediate response, the Seattle Police Department is increasing late-night and early-morning emphasis patrols along Aurora Avenue. The city is also deploying its Gun Violence Reduction Unit to the area.
While the Mayor’s Office stated these immediate steps are underway, they acknowledged that these steps along are not enough and that “long-term public safety also means supporting community-led solutions, addressing chronic issues that contribute to violence, and making sure residents feel heard and supported. This work is ongoing, and the City remains committed to working alongside the community to improve safety and quality of life along Aurora.”
A bunch of Political Speak meaning they aren’t going to do anything, because it’s all the illegals and minorities causing all the problems in the People’s Republik Of Seattle. Do the people in the affected areas understand that what’s going on is a direct result of their votes for the far left wackos in the Seattle government? And we all know they will keep voting for this.
