Sweden: Convicted Terrorist Wants New Cell: Threatens to Repeat His Crime

-Hat tip to the late great Don Martin of Mad Magazine

On April 17, 2017, in Stockholm, Sweden, a rejected asylum-seeker named Rakhmat Akilov from Uzbekistan swore allegiance to the Islamic State and then drove a hijacked truck through a crowd of pedestrians on Drottninggaten, a major street in Stockholm, before crashing into a department store. Five people were killed, and several were injured. Akilov was arrested and sentenced to life in a Swedish prison.

After reportedly causing problems in one high-security prison, Akilov was transferred to another high-security facility last year.

Now, reportedly, Akilov is not happy with his cell and has reportedly threatened to carry out “another Drottninggatan ” if his cell is not changed. Obviously a human rights issue.

The article below from Fria Tider is translated by Fousesquawk.

Akilov in prison “I’ll do Drottninggatan again”

Domestic: Terrorist Rakhmat Akilov wants a new cell in Tidaholm Priosn. When prison personnel could not immediately arrange it, according to the corrections authority, he responded by threatening to (repeat) his crime on Drottninggaten.

Rakhmat Akilov (48) is convicted of the terrorist crime on Drottninggatan in Stockholm on April 7, 2017. Five people were killed and several others were injured.

He was arrested immediately after the crime and has been in custody since. After a long time in the Fenix high security correctional facility, he was transferred about a year ago to the facility in Tidaholm, which is also in the high security classification.

According to Expressen, Akilov repeatedly got into fights in prison. This time, it was because he wanted to change cells.

When the personnel reported that it would take a day to change, he became upset.

“Rakhmat Akilov became agitated that he couldn’t change cells,” the report from the corrections service.

According to the report, Rakhmat then reportedly threatened the personnel.

“If I don’t get my wish today, I will do Drottninggatan again. You have one hour.”

After the incident, he was locked up again. A few days later, he was questioned about the matter, and he tried to downplay the statement.

Akilov claimed that personnel had misunderstood him since his Swedish “is not so correct”.

“I couldn’t find the right words. I didn’t mean that I would create chaos,” Akilov says under questioning, according to Expressen.

The corrections authority did not accept his explanation, and Akilov instead was given a warning.
