Why the Bible is only half credible and the future unknown

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

No one knows for certain what the future will bring but that doesn’t mean we can’t apply intelligent guessing. A few wealthy and powerful people know the plans they make for the future of the world but that doesn’t mean they will tell us.

At least a quarter of all Bible verses are prophetic. In fact, the faith and advice which Moses, Yeshua, called Jesus by Greek authors, and the Prophets promoted is future-looking and claims to portray God’s great plan and purpose for His creation from beginning to end. Indeed, the Bible describes the future and the end of the ages in detail. Here are the arguments and conclusions of my research to anticipate what might happen and how I prepare for different scenarios. I can visualize the following three credible future scenarios:

  1. The Book of Ecclesiastes says there is nothing new under the sun and if so, there is a good chance that conditions in the world will continue much the same way as they have for the past several decades with more major economic upsets, natural disasters and continual wars in different places. Then my wife and I will continue much the same way  we have for the past few years and move into a retirement complex when we are no longer fit and strong enough to live on our own.
  2. There is also a good chance that significant “end times events” will start appearing as predicted by the prophets and clarified by Israel’s Messiah, Yeshua. Then I will read the signs of the times described in the Bible and follow all the advice and instructions which Yeshua and the prophets provided for their followers to survive and thrive.
  3. There is also the possibility that the world will deteriorate into economic chaos, major international wars and devastating climate extremes without the specific signs and sequences of events described by Yeshua and the prophets for guiding the faithful. Then my wife and I will be unsure what to do. We hope and pray for the second scenario but there’s no guarantee that this will take place.

Christians say that Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled God’s Law and completed God’s plan and purposes. According to them, there are no more “signs and end time events” to anticipate because we have been living in the “end times” for the past 2000 years. They say they are only waiting for Yeshua’s dramatic and unpredictable appearance in the clouds at the final moment when life on earth ends; but that’s not what Yeshua and the Prophets said or wrote.

I conclude that about half of Bible predictions appear to be accurate in describing our modern geo-political, economic and social situation and the environmental crises we see taking place. But I no longer have much interest in Christianity and the world’s various official religions which generally collaborate with governments dominated by corrupt leaders and officials who manage well designed and orchestrated systems of propaganda for controlling the minds of the general public and aimed at pacifying potential dissidents. Having studied the Bible and especially the ancient prophetic books in detail for over 30 years I am still unsure what to make of the Bible because I’m not one who indulges in blind faith. The Bible describes the global program of mind control and explains this pervasive deception as the work of God’s enemy.

But on the other hand, there is little if any obvious mention in these ancient prophetic books of the miracles of modern technology and the wonderful revelations of scientific investigation and discovery. If those ancient books included information or references to such things as aircraft, submarines, space ships, computers, radio communication, television, cellphones and organ transplants, then most rational and intelligent people would take a keen interest in studying the Bible to learn more of the future and their own personal fate. Without evidence of supernatural knowledge, namely, clear descriptions of future modern technology, which later became obvious as the future unfolded, we are justified in remaining skeptical about the validity of the claims of those who wrote the Bible.

Furthermore, if the Bible included references to biological entities like viruses, germs, nerves and cells, or mentioned that opposite parts of the world experience the seasons at different times of the year and that sunset and sunrise takes place at different times depending on one’s location on the earth, such evidence would have been verified in due course and would have convinced most intelligent people of the supernatural origin of that knowledge. In practice, scientists have become more skeptical as technology revealed details of the extent and complexity of the world which was not known by the prophets and their readers. In fact, modern science contradicts much of the Bible and I can’t help sharing the scientific view and conclusions. The advance of science and technology has continually drawn people away from the Bible as a source of general knowledge concerning the world.

Many of the ancient prophetic books provide practical advice and good hints on how to escape deception/mind control and not only to survive but to thrive during the coming crisis. But on the other hand, much of what was predicted in those prophetic verses must be construed as either (1) a detailed list of false promises and unneeded warnings, or (2) promises and warnings of things still to happen. Some so-called “prophetic books” or prophetic passages may have been written after the events the apparently predicted. We simply don’t know which it is. That’s why I remain a skeptical believer. If God gave us a brain with the ability to apply rational thinking, common sense and wisdom, I will not abandon these skills when studying the Bible and history. Blind faith is a road to ruin.

I previously and unwittingly accepted the esoteric Christian notion of “Kingdom within” but now believe in and hope for “Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth” in the age to come and I accept what the Scriptures call “God’s spirit within.” I also admire Saint Paul’s concept of “the lawless one” within and among us, or what Saint John called “the spirit of error” which constantly opposes and obstructs God’s Spirit within us. Therefore, we hope and pray for “Thy will be done on earth” when “the lawless one” will be destroyed. We also hope and pray to receive immortal bodies on earth. This is all possible, if we are to believe the Bible, but it’s improbable if we are to believe history, science and the past disappointing failure of Bible prophecy.

Some things in the Bible are accurate to real life, and mostly incredibly insightful beyond the mental capacity of humans to fabricate, but at the same time, other things appear to be fables, myths and wishful thinking. So, I am caught between believing and not believing the Bible. Maybe time will tell if I live long enough.
