Ghostly figure caught on video damaging police officer's car
Connecticut police officers are convinced that their parking lot is haunted. Last month in Hartford, a ghostly figure was captured on video vandalizing an officer’s personal car, NBC reported on November 6.
On October 31 an off-duty Hartford police officer was shocked to come out to his car and find it damaged. The officer noticed that the driver’s side mirror was ripped off and found it lying on the ground next to the vehicle. His first thought was that it might be vandals that were responsible.
“At the end of his shift, the officer went out to his car and found his rear view mirror had been damaged and it was lying there next to his vehicle,” Lieutenant Brian Foley, spokesman for the Hartford Police Department told NBC news.
After reviewing the footage of the parking lot from the police station’s security cameras, officers were shocked to find that it wasn’t vandals responsible for the damage. In the video, a ghostly whirlwind appears in the police station parking lot. The vortex approaches a vehicle then rips the mirror off, sending it spinning on the ground.
“Some of the officers said they think the parking lot is haunted. To be able to rip a mirror off a car, throw it around and then put it right back below where it was ripped off is interesting to say the least.” Lieutenant Foley said.
NBC Connecticut meteorologist Brad Field reviewed the footage and isn’t convinced that the phenomenon is a ghost. He says the explanation is more scientific rather than supernatural. According to Field, it is nothing more that a mini-tornado or dust devil.
“I saw this surveillance video and I said, ‘What the heck is this,’ ” Field said. “The only way you can see the dust devil is that it picks up dust and debris into it,” he continued.
Dust devil or not, some Hartford police officers are still convinced something supernatural occurred.
