Ahnenerbe and the Nazi Search for Ancient Relics

Have you ever heard about the Ahnenerbe organization? It was a secret society in Nazi Germany aimed at researching the ancestral heritage of the Aryan race. It was founded on July 1, 1935 by Richard Walther Darré, Hermann Wirth and Heinrich Himmler.

Darré was the creator of the Nazi Blood and Soil ideology. Wirth was a Dutch historian obsessed with Atlantis and other lost cultures. As for Himmler, he was the leader of the Schutzstaffel (SS) and the General Plenipotentiary for the entire administration of the Third Reich.

The Ahnenerbe, meaning “inherited from the forefathers” was initially registered as a study society focused on the heritage of German ancestry but its real goal was far more obscure. In reality, the Ahnenerbe set out to prove the superiority of the Aryan race by uncovering evidence that the Germans descended from a god-like race. Himmler’s greatest dream was to replace Christianity with a new religion based on Aryan principles.

In 1940, the Ahnenerbe was integrated into the SS and began traveling the world in search of rare relics, ancient texts and mythical places. Himmler’s obsession with occultism and the arcane arts soon rubbed on the entire organization. More than 50 branches were created and assigned hundreds of operations and research projects.

Archaeological excavations were carried out in Italy, France, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Iceland, Bolivia and possibly in other places.  Tibet was also an important point of interest. The Ahnenerbe also scouted the world in search of the Holy Grail and the lost continents of Lemuria and Atlantis.

Nazi Germany’s Institute for Military Scientific Research was attached to the Ahnenerbe during World War 2. This venture performed medical experiments so horrific we shall refrain from mentioning them here.

The secret society is believed to have conducted top-secret experiments involving new technology enhanced by the artifacts and ancient texts discovered during their worldwide excavations.

The Ahnenerbe was financed mostly through the confiscated Jewish wealth although it received constant funding whenever needed.

All of the intensive work of the Ahnenerbe Organization produced results. Naturally, a question is raised: where has it all gone? Castle Waischenfeld in Bavaria was the last center where the secret society operated. Before the US captured the fortress, a large number of documents are said to have been destroyed.

Where are all the artifacts and ancient texts? Are they really forever lost or have we only been led to believe so?
