The cryptid known as Dogman is very similar to a werewolf. One of the most infamous Dogman is the Michigan Dogman. The Michigan Dogman was sighted in 1887 in Wexford County, Michigan. Witnesses say the creature was 7 feet tall, had blue eyes, bi-pedal and had the torso of a man. When the Dogman howled, it sounded like a human screaming. There have not been any reports of Dogman attacking anyone. What makes the Dogman different from a werewolf is that the Dogman actually looks like a dog, usually having the face of a German Shepard or a Doberman. The werewolf will have the face of a vicious wolf. Some witnesses say all you have to do is clap, and the Dogman will run away.

SACRAMENTO SIGHTING
The first sighting of Dogman in the Sacramento area was in 1953, according to “anonymous”. Anonymous says that the sighting occurred near the American River. Anonymous’ mother was watching TV, when she saw at a lower pane window, the face of a dog watching her. She got really scared when the dog face was at a higher window staring down at her. This meant that she was dealing with a very tall bipedal dog-faced creature. She says that this Dogman was dark gray and had glowing red eyes. Anonymous mother later learned that their home, being close to the American River, was also close to previous Native American land, because people have found arrowheads and other Native American artifacts near their property.

ELK GROVE SIGHTING
Darion Wilcox of Seattle, WA who once lived in Elk Grove claims that in the Summer of 1962, his grandmother named Sarah saw Dogman out in the fields, which are now the Laguna Creek Wetlands. Sarah lived on a ranch that once was located by Francesca and Franklin Blvd. When Sarah sighted Dogman it was on all fours and sniffing around like a dog. Sarah was amazed at how large the dog looked in the fields. Then this creature stood up and it must have been 6’1″. When the creature looked at Sarah, it gave out a blood curdling piercing scream. Sarah says that Dogman had red eyes, but when it moved its head, the red eyes turned silver in color. Sarah says this Dogman had the face of a German Shepherd. Darion also says that he had a couple of friends that claim that they have seen “ghostly dogs” on the trails. Just a sidenote, my deceased dogs Pika and T-Rex loved these trails when they were alive, I only wonder if the ghostly dogs could be my dogs from long ago. Wishful thinking.

2ND ELK GROVE SIGHTING
It was February 2024, 10:45pm at night, local Elk Grove resident Christian Appel, had his truck parked near the bike trail (by Leatherbees), that leads out to the Laguna Creek Wetlands. Christian watched people jogging or riding their bikes on the trail. As he sat in his truck and when the people were gone, he was shocked to see a large shaggy black creature walking on the trail. This creature had the face of a dog and was larger than a Mastiff. The creature was bipedal. Christian posted his encounter on Reddit and was asking the readers if they ever encountered anything like that near the Wetlands.

OUR INVESTIGATION
With three sightings, one as recent as 2024, there must truly be something strange going on at the Laguna Creek Wetlands trails. I once saw a strange hunched-back dark green bi-pedal figure in Elk Grove. From the distance from where I was observing this strange sight, I was unable to make out what I was seeing. I had to drive up closer, so I can identify this mysterious figure. I discovered I was looking at a homeless person that was covered in a blanket. The witnesses to these Dogman sightings are saying that they are actually seeing the dog faces on these creatures, so I don’t think they are seeing a homeless person covered in a blanket. One of my investigators Xandean Smith and I, have been walking the trails to see if we can come across this elusive cryptid. I will keep you posted.
