MY MINI-BIO:

When I was in Tokyo, Japan, I didn’t really have much time to explore the haunting activities of Tokyo. I was in the military, and I knew that I had to get up at 4am to catch my plane to South Korea the very next day. My dad, a Korean War veteran spent some time in Japan and got to see a whole lot more than I did. Questioning my dad, I discovered that he visited Goshiki-Numa Lake. My dad explains to me that Goshiki-Numa Lake is a cluster of five majestic volcanic lakes situated at the foot of Mount Bandai. My dad says the lakes are dazzling in beauty. My dad talking to some of the locals told him that the lakes are haunted by many spirits. These spirits were the victims of the erupting Mount Bandai. Mount Bandai erupted on July 15, 1888. The eruption killed over 500 people and destroyed several villages. After the devastation, hundreds of lakes were formed, along with tarns.

The eruption completely rearranged the landscape, creating the Bandai-kōgen plateau and damming local rivers. From death and destruction, beauty came afterwards. The eruption harvested mineral deposits that went to the now Five Colored Lakes. Each lake provides its own distinct color, ranging from reddish green to cobalt blue. My dad said the lakes are something out of a fairy tale novel. My dad says from Lake Hibara, you can find a spot to observe all 5 lakes. When you are at that spot, you feel like you have reached heaven.

The locals told my dad that Goshiki-Numa Lake has a dark side, and not let its beauty fool you. Locals late at night hear the screams of spirits that were once victims of the erupting Mount Bandai. The screams are the loudest during thunderstorms. It is believed that the residual energy from this tragic event plays out even more during a thunderstorm, because the residual energy gathers more energy from the charged-up molecules during a thunderstorm. Energy feeding off energy. Also, a local claims that when he heard the unearthly screaming, one of the spirits ran threw him and his whole body for a couple of seconds felt like ice.

A “Lady in Blue Swimsuit” is sometimes seen on one of the lakes. It is believed she was a drowning victim. She will walk around the beach during a full moon, and then vanish. Another legend is that at times, locals and tourists have seen “Shadow Ninjas” sitting high up in trees. They have been seen jumping from limb to limb and then vanishing. The locals believe that these Shadow Ninjas are from the Sengoku period, also known as Sengoku Jidai aka The Warring States Period. This is when the period in Japanese history, there were civil wars and social upheavals that took place almost continuously in the 15th and 16th centuries. Locals and tourists will tell you that during the day, you will most likely not feel or see anything paranormal. But, when the sun goes down, or if there is a storm, you may just see something that you don’t want to see.
