Classiebawn Castle, Ireland
When my family and I, visited Classiebawn Castle, we knew that this place was haunted. We felt cold chills in certain areas of the castle. Jason asked me if I grabbed his shoulder. My answer was no. Jason then said: “Well, somebody did.” We learned that when Lord Mountbatten’s tragic death came about, it wasn’t too long, that you saw the ghost of Lord Mountbatten roaming the halls of Classiebawn Castle. His ship was blown up by the IRA in 1979. Lord Mountbatten is a tormented ghost that haunts the castle. He is seen shaking his head as in disbelief. His face shows shock and surprise. Did Lord Mountbatten grab my son’s shoulder? I think it was possible.
Special Note: Visited Classiebawn Castle with my stepson Jason Randall Porter & my ex-wife Patricia Mary Mitchell.

Bled Castle & Bled Lake, Slovenia
At one time the luscious green valley was inhabited by fairies, sheepherders and their flocks. The fairies became upset with the sheepherders, because their flock was eating and destroying all the lovely green grass and fruit trees. The sheepherders were also invading the privacy of the fairies. The fairies flooded the valley killing some of the sheepherders. The fairies retreated to Bled Island, where they could celebrate and dance. Some of the fairies have been sighted in Bled Castle and on the island. They will make their presence known when most of the tourists go back home. Legend has it that years ago, a young woman lost her husband who was murdered and thrown in the lake. To commemorate his life, his wife ordered a special bell to hang in the local church. En route to the island, the boat on which the bell was being transported capsized and sank. The bell was lost forever. A second bell was commissioned and blessed by the pope of the time and now hangs in the Church of the Assumption of Mary. Ringing the bell three times and pleading your case “guarantees” your wish will be granted. The young woman’s husband will sometimes reveal himself by appearing waist up in the lake.
Special Note: My stepmother Cindy visited Bled Castle. She did not experience anything paranormal.

Belem Tower – Lisbon, Portugal
The tower has dungeons and the prisoners of the past still haunt those dungeons. One tourist heard the sounds of whips and a man screaming. Tourists who visited the dungeons have heard whispers in their ears. Some tourists have complained about being touched by unseen hands. Visitors have reported eerie sensations and unexplained occurrences, adding an element of intrigue to their exploration of the fortress. Another mystery surrounding Belem Tower is the presence of hidden passages and secret rooms. Rumors persist of hidden chambers where treasures from Portugal’s colonial expeditions were once concealed. While no concrete evidence has been found to validate these claims, the possibility of stumbling upon a hidden room filled with untold riches continues to captivate the imagination of visitors. Legend has it that beneath the tower lies a secret tunnel that leads to a hidden underground city. This mythical city is believed to house ancient artifacts and relics from the country’s past. Though historians have yet to find any concrete proof of the tunnel’s existence, the allure of uncovering such a hidden treasure trove adds an element of excitement for people that are visiting Belem Tower.
Over the centuries, Belem Tower has also witnessed its fair share of love stories. One such tale revolves around the tragic romance between a young Portuguese soldier and a Moorish princess. Forbidden love, betrayal, and sacrifice are said to have unfolded within the tower’s walls, leaving an indelible mark on its history. Visitors can almost feel the bittersweet essence of this love story as they explore the tower’s various rooms and alcoves. Some locals make claim that they have seen the Portuguese soldier, and Moorish princess holding hands and walking around on the grounds before they fade away into nothingness.

Ronda – Province Malaga, Spain
The Province Malaga is a smorgasbord of haunts. We can start off with Cortijo Jurado. Cortijo Jurado is one of the most legendary houses in Malaga. Among all the mysteries that are forthcoming, it can start off with the death of the patriarch of the Heredia family. Disappearances of young girls who were murdered and found not far from the house have shown marks of satanic rites. It is said that the victims were taken through secret tunnels and tortured with machines in cellars located in the farmhouse. Nightly screams have been heard by locals and tourists. The tunnels of Cortijo Jurado exist, and they are very haunted. The government has closed off access to the tunnels with a concrete wall. Legend has it that Tello, a Christian soldier, was imprisoned in Archidona Castle. Tazgona, daughter of the city’s ruler, freed Tello from prison. Tazgona’s father did not approve of this romantic couple’s love, because they belong to opposing sides and religious creeds. Therefore, the young couple decided to run away together. Their escape did not last long. Arab troops were in hot pursuit of this runaway couple. In the face of such persecution, the young lovers climbed to the top of what is known today as the “La Peña de los Enamorados” (The Rock of Lovers) and threw themselves from the top, thus ending both their lives and their love. Locals say on some nights, the apparitions of the couple are seen materializing and running up the Rock of Lovers and throwing themselves off the rock. There are also ghosts at the Ruins of the Rúa house in Ronda. There are many stories about the Serranía de Ronda, some of which are the most popular legends of Malaga. It is a stately home known as Casa Rúa or Villa Apolo. The Casa Rúa has a dramatic history. It was inhabited by a wealthy family with children, under the surname Rúa. The family had hired the services of people to look after the children, suspiciously one day one of the girls disappeared without a trace. On another night one of the nannies in charge of the children disappeared and the parents of the family went to the tower just outside the house to see if she was there, to their surprise they did not find the nanny, but they did find their daughter who was dismembered, drowned in her own blood in a large basin. The parents seeing such a ghastly display screamed in horror. As time went by, the parents hired some detectives to find the culprit. The culprit was never found. To this day, locals and tourists have heard the ghostly screams of the parents. The screams are so horrifying, it will make your blood run cold. The ghost of the girl still haunts the tower of the house in search of her killer and seeking retribution for this heinous evil act.
Special Note: While I was in Madrid, Spain, I heard many stories about Province Malaga. Unfortunately, I never made it over there.

Juneau, Alaska
Red Dog Saloon 278 S. Franklin Street is very haunted. My dad and my stepmother Cindy stopped by the Red Dog Saloon and heard the stories from the bar regulars. A local told my dad that a cowpoke ghost haunts the saloon and will at times pinch the rears of unsuspecting females. A red-haired lady ghost will sometimes manifest in the women’s bathroom. Juneau is also the host of other haunted locations. Juneau is also the beginning of the Alaska Triangle where many people disappear. The Alaskan Hotel is considered one of the most haunted hotels in the city. The hotel has been featured on television shows like The Alaska Triangle and Portals to Hell. The haunted rooms of this hotel are Room 315, where a male entity will sometimes appear. He will stare at you for a bit and then vanish. Room 219 is another haunted room. The spirit of Alice, a woman who died in this room, is said to still occupy the hotel. She’s known to move objects and steal towels from other rooms. The bar is haunted by 2 ghostly mountain men that will at times knock over your drink. The basement is haunted by the ghost of a man that died in the hot tub. He will be seen with a towel around his waist walking around before disappearing.
