A Visit from Ancient Aliens
The Dogon tribe, a West African people, from Mali have a rich mythology that includes detailed knowledge of the Sirius star system, including its white dwarf companion, Sirius B, which is invisible to the naked eye. Some researchers believe this knowledge was imparted by ancient alien visitors, specifically the amphibious Nommos, from the Sirius system. The Dogon tribe has extraordinary astronomical knowledge. This knowledge couldn’t have come from another tribe. It had to come from an advanced intellectual race of beings. I believe those beings were extraterrestrial. Sirius B can only be seen by advanced telescopes. How did the Dogon tribe know about Sirius B’s 50-year elliptical orbit around Sirius A? Again, this points at an advanced race of beings parting knowledge to this primitive tribe. The Dogon tribe also knew about Jupiter’s moons and Saturn’s rings, which are ONLY visible with telescopes. The Dogon tribe has no telescopes.

I do believe that the Nommos visited the Dogon tribe in the ancient past and gave the Dogon tribe astronomical knowledge. There is no other logical answer. Now let’s look at the restless spirits that haunt many places in Mali.

Timbuktu
Timbuktu has many historic mosques and is the keeper of ancient manuscripts. Timbuktu is known to be very haunted. Tourists visiting the old city have reported seeing apparitions of scholars and traders from centuries past wandering the dusty streets at night. The ghostly apparitions do not notice their observers and continue walking to an unknown destination. Some locals and tourists have made claim to hearing faint whispers in the deserted alleys believed to be the voices of those who contributed to Timbuktu’s golden age but met untimely ends due to conflicts or diseases. The city’s spectral presence serves as a haunting reminder of its past history and the many people that lived in Timbuktu.

Djenne Mosque
The Great Mosque of Djenne is an architectural marvel. Legend has it that powerful spirits protect the mosque. They appear as shadowy figures in the early morning mist. These guardians are said to roam the mosque grounds ensuring that the structure remains intact. Visitors have reported feeling an unnerving presence when exploring the mosque alone, with some even witnessing mysterious lights flickering in the minarets at night. One tourist saw an apparition down one hallway, the apparition approached him and then walked through him. When this happened, the tourist felt a sudden cold chill throughout his whole body.

Gao’s Ancient Tombs
Gao once a prosperous capital of the Songhai Empire is dotted with ancient tombs and crypts. These burial sites are reputed to be haunted by the spirits of royals and warriors who once ruled the land. Locals tell tales of ghostly figures in traditional attire appearing around the tombs at dusk. Some adventurers have recounted eerie encounters such as sudden drops in temperature and unexplained whispers echoing through the burial chambers adding to the mystique of this ancient city.

Bandiagara Escarpment / Mali Subaga
The Bandiagara Escarpment is a stunning geological formation that is also steeped in supernatural stories. The Dogon people known for their rich traditions and cosmology believe that ancestral spirits inhabit certain parts of the cliffs. Visitors have reported seeing ghostly figures on the rocks and hearing drumming sounds without any visible source. Some say that these are the spirits of ancient Dogon priests performing rituals long after their physical bodies have perished. Many animal spirits have been seen in this area. There have been reports of ghostly hyenas, vanishing monkeys and spectral slithering snakes. In Bambara mythology, evil spirits also exist in various forms. For example, some traditions mention bush devils as nightmarish versions of apes. Additionally, in the mythology of the Igbo people of Nigeria, who have cultural ties to some Malian ethnic groups, there are Ọgbanje, evil spirits disguised as children who cause misfortune and grief. During dusk, you may encounter a nightmarish female sorcerer called the Mali Subaga. If you see the Mali Subaga, you will face misfortune. Mali Subaga is believed to be an evil spirit that lives at the Bandiagara Escarpment.

Koulikoro’s Battlefield Sites
Koulikoro’s numerous historical battlefield sites are believed to be haunted by the spirits of warriors who perished in battle. Locals recount seeing ghosts clad in traditional armor roaming these fields. These apparitions are often seen reenacting battles as if forever bound to the land by the violence of their past. Visitors have reported feeling an overwhelming sense of sorrow and hearing the faint clash of weapons when exploring these areas, a haunting reminder of the region’s turbulent history. The fields are overshadowed with strong negative residual energy.
