The 1965 Valensole UFO incident also known as “The Lavender Encounter,” involves French farmer Maurice Masse’s claim of witnessing a spherical UFO land in his lavender field on July 1, 1965. Masse reported two small, humanoid figures that emerged from the craft. The extraterrestrials paralyzed him with a tube-like device before flying away in the craft. The site showed physical anomalies, including hardened soil with high calcium levels, and the event is considered a classic UFO case.

Date and Location of this Incident: July 1, 1965, in the lavender fields near Valensole, Provence, France. The object was approximately seven meters in diameter, with a bluish light and a slight humming sound. The beings that were sighted looked like 2 humanoid figures, described as about four feet tall, with large, slanted eyes and sharp chins, wearing tight gray-green clothes. Masse approached the landed craft, mistaking it for a helicopter, but saw the figures. One of the beings then pointed a cylindrical instrument at him, causing temporary paralysis. The figures quickly returned to their craft and departed rapidly into the sky. Scientists did a soil analysis and discovered that there were abnormally high calcium levels. If you visit this part of France, every citizen can recall this story or tell you what they read.

Valensole Provence not only has a famous UFO story, but it also has other strange stories. A strange story is the legend of Lavandula. This regional legend tells of a fairy named Lavandula whose tears of sadness created the violet lavender fields that Provence is famous for. What is interesting is that perhaps there is a connection to the Masse UFO incident to the fairy known as Lavandula. Both incidents are connected to the Lavender fields. And then there are other connections. Many people believe that fairies are actually extraterrestrial beings. There is a strong coalition with fairies and aliens. Some aliens are known to be small, like the Grays. Fairies and Grays are small beings. Then there are fairy circles that can be compared to crop circles or saucer nests. Fairies have been known to snatch up children. Extraterrestrials are known to take fetuses from the wombs of their mothers. Fairies are known to carry wands that can cause temporary paralysis. Aliens seem to have the ability to use a device to cause partial paralysis. Some of those devices look like wands. So, as you can see there is a strong connection that fairies have with aliens. Is it possible that fairies are aliens? Before we look into other paranormal activity in Valensole, let’s look more closely to the UFO sighting.

The presence of physical beings with the UFO elevated the incident to a close encounter of the third kind, a highly significant category in UFOlogy. The Valensole Incident is considered a classic and well-documented case in the history of UFO sightings. The incident garnered significant media attention, making the quiet town a focal point of international interest and intrigue. The event inspired a 2024 film titled “Valensole 65,” based on the true story. What is interesting is that Ufologist Jacques Vallee says that the Valensole UFO was similar to the Soccoro UFO. Present day Ufologists say that the Valensole UFO is also similar to the famous Tic Tac UFO caught on film. Is it possible that the Valensole UFO, the Soccoro UFO and the Tic Tac UFO are one and the same? Or could it be that these UFOs originate from the same place and are manned by the same species of extraterrestrials?

Now, let’s take a look at other paranormal legends in Valensole Province. There is the story of the Dragon of Vaucluse. The Coulobre, a dragon-like creature, is said to have haunted the rivers of the nearby Vaucluse region before being driven out by a saint. Is it possible that the dragon seen by villagers was actually an extraterrestrial craft? Then we have the Les Baux-de-Provence haunting. This ancient village is rumored to be haunted by spirits and a “white figure” that appears on a bridge. Visitors and locals have reported strange, paranormal occurrences within the narrow, cobblestone streets of the village. Locals have heard unexplained noises after dark. Locals have seen apparitions in windows or alleyways. The White Figure on the bridge is associated with Les Baux-de-Provence bridge near the village square. An ethereal white figure that is sometimes called Sadie is believed to be the spirit of a young woman who died tragically, and she will appear on the bridge at night. Nancy Bradley, a popular psychic said she made communication with the white figure, and the entity told Nancy her name is Sadie. There was also a French psychic named Eloise that confirmed that the entity is named Sadie and that she committed suicide over a lost love.

Then finally we have “The Valley of Hell”. Below the village lies the Val d’Enfer (Valley of Hell), a valley with hauntingly beautiful, gnarled rock formations. This landscape is said to have inspired Dante Alighieri’s depiction of hell in his epic poem, The Divine Comedy. The ominous, strange shapes of the rocks evoke a sinister atmosphere that has fed local legend for centuries. Some villagers make claim that they have seen apparitions walking around The Valley of Death. Some villagers says that walking around in that area, they will experience a feeling of dread.
