Iranian Resistance prisoner due for release disappeared.
On Wednesday morning (January 4) Iranian political prisoner Ali Moezzi went missing from Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran.
The disappearance or confinement of the 62 year old was said to have been witnessed by family visiting him the time of the bizarre incident. In a letter copied and received today by Amnesty International Moezzi’s family
say “some intelligence service agents took him to an unknown place and there is no news from him.”
Moezzi has been incarcerated and released numerous times by Iran’s religiously-biased justice system, since the 1908s and which coincided with his vocal support for Workers’ Rights in Iran.
Social media has reacted with the hashtag #SaveAliMoezzi and his family are also pleading for the United Nations HCR commissioner for Human Rights Raad Al-Hossein to intervene, saying that Moezzi is at the end of his prison sentence and he is in dire need of medical attention for his cancer. His disappearance may be linked to him also being denied medical treatment.
Moezzi suspicious and abrupt disappearance, of a political prisoner dues for imminent release has began to cause alarm bells, his daughters in the letter highlighting that it’s not the first time that the Iranian regime [had tried] to [silence] prisoners secretly.
