Implementing Congestion Pricing Rules - NYC Is Forcing Companies to Close... on Purpose (Video)
In this 6 June 2024 video, New York City resident Cash Jordan focuses on the new congestion pricing rules which were scheduled to start 30 June 2024 bur have now been ‘paused’.
News outlets are reporting a government official briefed on the plans claims Governor Kathy Hochul wanted to pause the rollout so more due diligence could be done. The MTA will now come up with a list of projects which could be impacted by not having the congestion pricing funding. The proposed plan was expected to bring in about $15 billion for the MTA.
NYC is now forcing businesses to close or pay higher prices just for existing in certain parts of Manhattan. Is this Fair?
Here are published totals for the congestion pricing project (subject to change) which will be charged during” peak hours:
Passenger vehicles: $15
Small trucks: $24
Large trucks: $36
Motorcycles: $7.50
Taxi drivers: $1.25 per ride
Uber, Lyft, other ride-shares: $2.50 per ride
E-ZPass drivers will automatically be charged a fee upon entering the Central Business District. Drivers without an E-ZPass will receive a bill to the address of the registered vehicle.
