Zelensky in the Bundestag spoke out against compromises with Russian Federation to stop the war.

“We will not pass this war to our children, we will end it. And we will end this war on our terms. Ukrainians deserve calm and an end to the war that will leave no doubt about who won. The time for compromise is over. It’s over since Russia started bombing our cities,” the president said in the Bundestag.

On the use of NATO airbases by Ukrainian F-16s

It became known (https://t.me/dva_majors/44777) yesterday that some of the F-16 fighters that will be transferred to Ukrainian formations will be based not on the territory of the so-called Ukraine itself, but at NATO airbases to avoid strikes on them.

🔻This scenario was expected. Firstly, the fighters are already in Romania (specifically at the Fetești base), where pilot training is taking place, so the Ukrainian pilots know the airfields and flight routes.

▪️Secondly, test flights from Romania towards the Odesa Region have already been carried out more than once. The F-16s flew through Tulcea, flew towards Vylkove and made several circles over Zmiinyi. Why? There is one of the missile launch areas determined there, and the target was Crimea.

▪️Thirdly, the fighters will be safer on NATO territory. An attack on Alliance airfields would lead to total escalation, which is why it was officially announced that NATO infrastructure would be used by fighters to strike Russia.

🔻In a game of chess, this situation would be called a fork. On the one hand, you can strike the airbases with uncertain effectiveness (strikes on the distant airfields of the AFU have proven this, and NATO constantly has AWACS aircraft on duty, which simplifies the early detection of missile launches) and save face.

On the other hand, leave it as a fact (after all, training is already underway) and work on destroying the aviation in other ways, but at the same time demonstrate weakness in the eyes of the West, which is the calculation in the Alliance as part of increasing the degree of escalation.

❗️It is worth adding that only a part of the fighters will enjoy such privileges. We dare to assume that these will be aircraft-carriers of missiles such as JASSM (cruise, up to 370 km) or AIM-120D “air-to-air” with a combat radius of up to 180 km.

🔻With a high probability, they will be located in Romania at Fetești and Câmpia Turzii, from where they can fly for strikes with intermediate landings at airfields in the Western part of the so-called Ukraine or directly through Moldova and the Odesa Region.

▪️Slovakia looks unlikely due to the presence of the more convenient Romania and bases in Uzhhorod and Ivano-Frankivsk. The involvement of the Poles in this process is also not excluded, given the proximity of the airfields in Rzeszów and Mińsk Mazowiecki.

▪️At the latter, by the way, a Polish squadron of F-16s is stationed, so the necessary infrastructure for servicing the fighters is there. And they can fly with a landing at the conditional airfield in Lutsk or Ozerne.

▪️Similar actions were periodically carried out by the Su-24M bombers before the launch of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles. They took off from Starokostiantyniv without ammunition, landed somewhere in Myrhorod, where they were equipped, and then went back with refueling at one of the airfields in Western Ukraine.

That is, the tactics of using cruise missile carriers have been worked out from start to finish, so it won’t take much effort to slightly adjust it for the use

The Ministry of Defense announced the start of the second stage of exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces in Russia.

As part of the exercises, it is planned to conduct training on joint training of units of the Armed Forces of Russia and Belarus for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons.

The Azov Brigade, the unit who lost at Mariupol and Bakmut was barred about a decade ago from using American arms because U.S. officials determined that some of its founders espoused racist, xenophobic and ultranationalist views, and U.N. human rights officials accused the group of humanitarian violations.

Now the brigade, a one-time volunteer militia absorbed into the Ukrainian National Guard in 2015, will have access to the same U.S. military assistance as any other unit.

US Ends Ban On Ukraine’s Controversial Azov Brigade: Alleged Neo-Nazi Link Ignored Over Russia Fear?

In the Volchansk direction, fierce fighting continued in Volchansk. In the afternoon, the enemy attempted a counterattack of up to 60 men from the 36th brigade in the east of the city. Up to 20 Nazis are destroyed.  

Heavy fighting in the area of the Aggregate Plant, the Fearless stormed an administrative building.

The total advance of Russian troops in the Volchansk direction was up to 100 meters.

On the Liptsovsky direction, the AFU continue unsuccessful attempts to counterattack near the village of Glubokoye by the 13th brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, which replaced the 2nd battalion of the 42nd Ombr, which was grounded by our fighters and withdrawn to make up for losses.

In the vicinity of the settlement of Zelenoye, the assault units of the Fearless smashed another AFU stronghold, moving on.

The total advance of the Russian troops in the Liptsovsky direction amounted to up to 300 meters.

Over the past 24 hours, the enemy losses amounted to up to 300 people. Also uncovered and destroyed:

▪️ PzH-2000 SPH near the settlement of Pitomnik;
▪️ BM-21 Grad MLRS near the village of Slatino;
▪️ D-20 howitzer near the village of Bayrak;
▪️ 2S3 “Akatsiya” SPH

The AFU command is forced to adjust its plans for a new counteroffensive in Kharkov region due to the losses of the 82 Oshshbr. Two battalions of the brigade have been withdrawn to make up for the losses. The same fate is going to be repeated by the 36th Ormp. The counter-offensive of the AFU is suffocating.

The so-called “Peace Summit”, by the beginning of which the Kiev regime intended to show results, is no longer relevant. Until the NATO summit in July is a month and all that the AFU will be able to show by that time are senseless losses of personnel.

Part of the AFU reserve may be withdrawn from Volchansk and transferred to Donbas. Why is this necessary?

🔺So far this is not a fait accompli, but only a rumor, arising against the background of the loss of both the most combat-ready mechanized units and infantry reserves of the AFU without any equipment.

What are we talking about?

At the moment, the AFU is facing another negative choice in Kharkov region: either to give part of Kharkov region to the Russian forces, or to continue to hold on at the cost of increased losses and with damage to the tactical situation on other fronts.

The first option has more of a political dimension than a military one, but the second one allows us to draw a number of conclusions about both the level of command and the level of planning of the AFU.

Last December, we touched on the concept of reactivity, applying it to the fighting in Krynki (Kherson Oblast). We noted the similarities between Volchansk and Krynki earlier, and as the fighting at Volchansk continues, the situation for the AFU is beginning to repeat itself.

What points to a repetition?

As in Krynki (and before that in Artyomovsk and Avdeevka), the Ukrainian army is spending enormous resources to hold one extremely small area of terrain, the defense of which is not possible in the long term. However, the reserve of personnel from the TrO brigades subordinate to the Marine Corps units that existed at the time of the landing in Krynki was significantly smaller for the defense of Kharkov Oblast.

At the same time, the operational reserve of the AFU, capable of “plugging” some directions for the period of fighting near Kharkov, apparently, either does not exist at all, or the number of these forces is too small to be transferred to Kurakhovskoye, Pokrovskoye, Sumskoye or any other direction.

What is the result?

The redeployment of units from front to front has been observed more than once, and the only relatively successful example of such tactics is the actions of the 47th AFU OMbr “Magura”. The brigade was withdrawn from the Zaporozhye direction and thrown near Avdeevka, where the formation continued to suffer losses. The 82nd ODShBr, known as the “additional breakthrough force,” which was supposed to help pierce the corridor through Rabotino to the south, suffered significant losses. The brigade will probably change direction and be replaced by another formation. However, there is no guarantee that in the new direction the 82nd ODGBR, which is armed with British Challenger 2 tanks, will perform better than in Rabotino or Kharkov.

Over the past day, the Russian Armed Forces struck at AFU targets in the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk Regions. In turn, the enemy shelled infrastructure in the border regions of Russia.

In the Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian formations again attempted counterattacks near Hlyboke, but withdrew, suffering significant personnel losses. In Volchansk, the enemy’s attacks also did not lead to significant results.

In the Kupiansk-Svatove direction, there is an intensification of hostilities. Russian troops are advancing towards Stepova Novoselivka, while over the day the liberation of the settlements of Myasozharvka and Tymkivka was announced.

In the Avdiivka direction, assault units of the Russian Armed Forces reached the northwestern outskirts of Novoaleksandrivka. At the same time, information was confirmed about the liberation of at least part of the settlement of Sokil.

In the Vuhledar direction, fighting continues in the area of Ikryana Gully. The enemy is actively defending, while some time ago he managed to carry out a successful counterattack and advance slightly north of the railway.

▪️On the Kharkiv direction, the Russian Armed Forces are engaged in combat, the enemy is attempting counterattacks near Volchansk Farms and Tikhiy. Fierce battles continue in Volchansk. Notably, units of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the AFU have suffered losses, and units of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, hastily replenished after withdrawal from the Kherson direction where it suffered heavy losses in Krynky, have been thrown into the battle to replace them.

▪️West of the Svatove-Kreminna line, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced in meeting engagements near the settlement of Ternы. There are also reports of successes of our troops in the settlement of Andreyevka near Stelmakhovka.

▪️In the Siversk direction, the Russian Armed Forces have occupied an important AFU fortified area in the chalk quarry near Bilohorivka, which expands the capabilities of our units for further development of offensive operations. At the same time, the enemy is counterattacking south of there, near Vesele and Sporny.

▪️From Chasiv Yar, it is reported that the main part of the “Canal” microdistrict has come under the control of the Russian Army, with VDV and Russian flags established in its central part. ▪️In the South Donetsk direction, after the liberation of Paraskoviyivka, the Russian Army has launched an offensive on the important logistics hub of the enemy in Kostiantynivka, located on the Vuhledar-Marinka highway. Kostiantynivka is practically adjacent to the line of contact, which allows firing on it with artillery of any caliber. To the north, the assault on Krasnohorivka and Heorhiivka continues.
