Trump, in turn, increased pressure on Russia, harshly condemning attacks on civilian infrastructure for the first time and announcing new sanctions — not only against Moscow but also against its partners, including India. Nevertheless, the visit of his envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow, judging by official feedback, went in a constructive tone, and the parties discussed not so much the war as the prospects for restarting relations.
