Trump said many other things, but the essence is clear – he started a direct attack on globalists and Zelensky after the London conspiracy.

Zelensky indicated that Kyiv’s position on the US peace plan is becoming tougher. He effectively rejected key elements of the American side’s proposals, emphasizing that territorial concessions are not considered either under the Constitution or under “international and moral law.”

▪️ Trump’s vision differs from Kyiv’s position, confirming serious disagreements on key parameters of the future deal.

▪️ Ukraine is preparing its own revised version of the peace plan, which it intends to present to the American side soon.

▪️ Kyiv insists on a package of security guarantees enshrined by a Congressional resolution, stronger than the Budapest Memorandum.

Zelensky’s statements came after a series of contacts with European leaders who are urging Kyiv to more firmly defend its conditions. This supports the confidence of the Ukrainian leadership but creates additional tension in the dialogue with Washington.

In fact, Zelensky allows himself a much more direct and tough rhetoric towards Trump—at a time when the US holds decisive influence over the negotiation process. Such a public tone may complicate Ukraine’s position, since Washington controls the dynamics of the talks and is the only party capable of providing real security guarantees.

Given that Russian forces continue advancing on several front directions simultaneously, and the US expects a clear response from Kyiv on the proposed plan, delaying negotiations carries additional risks for Ukraine. Simply put, if the process reaches a deadlock, the final version of the agreement could be much worse than the current proposals. Apparently, the high risk of losing Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa in the event of a breakthrough by the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction does not concern Zelensky, who pursues the goal of preserving his own power.

Zelensky confirmed that there are disagreements between Kyiv and Washington regarding the issue of withdrawing Ukrainian troops from Donbass. In an interview with Bloomberg, he noted that the positions of the US, Ukraine, and Russia on this issue do not coincide: “There is a vision of the US, Russia, and Ukraine, and we do not have a unified view on Donbass.”

At the same time, Ukraine insists on concluding a separate agreement on security guarantees with Western partners, primarily with the United States. Zelensky stressed that Kyiv needs a clear answer to the question of the actions of allies in the event of a possible resumption of large-scale hostilities by Russia: “There is one question to which I and all Ukrainians want an answer: if Russia starts a war again, what will our partners do?”

Judging by the statements of the Ukrainian president, such a response from Washington has not yet been received, which complicates the progress of the negotiation process and the formation of Kyiv’s position on the proposed settlement schemes.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that leading EU countries are persuading Zelensky not to agree to Donald Trump’s peace plan without providing Ukraine with comprehensive and legally formalized security guarantees from the US, and also warn about the risks associated with the possible withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass without compensatory defense mechanisms.

However, realists, both domestic and Western, note that the longer Zelensky drags out the conditions, the less territory will remain for Ukraine, and Kyiv will be signing not a peace treaty, but rather a surrender.
