The “Stories” of Lot and Noah...Have You Decoded the Message?

When you think of the stories that are written in the bible, were they simply provided to entertain us, or is it something much deeper? What do they mean. What is God telling us? Do you know?

It’s fascinating to me, that these events have been shared with us, not just by way of a story, but so that we can gather a greater understanding of who our Heavenly Father is. The way that God responded to certain situations throughout history gives us valuable insight as to how He will likely respond in situations that face us today. So, let’s jump in and decode the stories of rescue.

Let’s begin by looking at Lot in the Old Testament. I would like for you to take a moment and retell the story that you can recall, in your own mind…What was the basic content of the story that you were taught? Can you remember? It is one of the two most important stories that pertain to what is happening in our lives right now. Let me retell the story for you.

In a lush and prosperous region near the Dead Sea, two cities named Sodom and Gomorrah thrived. Known as the “cities of the plain,” they were rich and bustling but had become infamous for their wickedness. Their people were said to live without regard for justice, kindness, or hospitality, engaging in grievous sins and neglecting the poor and vulnerable among them.

God was aware of their corruption, and was not happy with all of the sin and corruption going on there. God then appeared to Abraham and told him that He was preparing to destroy the cities. Abraham pleaded with God to spare the cities. As he “negotiated” with God, he asked if even a handful of righteous people could be found there, could He spare the cities?

“What if there are fifty righteous people in the city?” Abraham asked.
“I will spare the entire place for their sake,” the Lord replied.

Abraham continued, lowering the number each time, until God promised that even ten righteous individuals would be enough to save the cities. Yet, not even ten could be found.

Two angels, disguised as travelers, arrived in Sodom. They were met by Lot, Abraham’s nephew, who welcomed them into his home and offered them shelter. But the rest of the city’s men gathered outside Lot’s house, demanding to “harm” the visitors in sadistic ways. Their actions revealed the depth of their moral decay.

The angels warned Lot to flee with his family, saying, “God has sent us to destroy this place because its sin is so great.” They then led Lot, his wife, and their daughters out of the city, urging them not to look back. However, Lot’s wife, who is unnamed in the bible, looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Upon further clarification of this event, it was not that Lot’s wife just turned to look at the city, many scholars suggest that she had desired to return to the city, and living her worldly ways. Because of this, she was destroyed by the brimstone that was released upon the city, turning her “into salt”.

There are two points of this story that involve you and me that I would like to share with you. The first is that we are all involved in living upon this earth, in a worldly sense, and have developed a worldly connection. We have been influenced by all of the things that we have experienced while upon this earth.

The joys of waterskiing on perfectly flat water during a beautiful sunny day. The “popularity, or status” that we have obtained because of our earthly accomplishments. The physical possessions that we have collected over our lifetime, many of which have brought us happiness and even pleasure. The joy of repelling, hiking the beautiful mountains that God has created, as well as countless other example of the things that we have discovered to bring us happiness and joy. These things essentially tie us with an emotion connection to this earth. Can you relate to this? Don’t debate the fact that this tie is good or bad, just try to acknowledge the fact that it is there.

For those of you who are young, perhaps you can relate to this… there is a great desire to experience life: Get married, start a family, get a house, and live through all of the things that you have been planning all of your young life. To not be able to experience these things perhaps night seem unfair, right?

Your mortal connection, even though it is based upon wholesome intent, is something that I would like you to consider, and ask yourself, “Could you walk away from all of it right now, should God ask you to do so?”

This mortal connection again is wholesome in many aspects. It has been a part of fulfilling our experience as a mortal while upon the earth. But as our mortal journey now comes close to ending, God would like our focus to start changing, and consider all that He has for us in the next life. Can we minimize the mortal connection that we have developed, replacing it with what is to come?

The second point of this story is understanding that God rescued Lot and his family from the destruction. God was not happy with the people who resided in Sodom and Gomorrah due to the extreme wickedness. He had full intent of destroying the cities, but wanted to remove “His righteous children” from His divine judgment that was planned. Angles led Lot and his family out of the city, and to a spot of safety.

We are very aware of the bowls of wrath that God intends on pouring out onto the earth during the upcoming seven years of tribulation. However, just like the experience of Lot and his family, the wrath was not intended for His “children (or church)”, so He removed them away from any of the harm that was planned. God does not intend for “His church” to be the recipients of His wrath, and will remove us out of harm’s way.

Let’s continue with another similar story, that of Noah.

During his time, the earth was filled with wickedness once again, and God decided to cleanse it with a great flood. But one righteous man, Noah, found favor with God. He was told to build a large ark to survive the coming destruction, taking his family and pairs of animals with him.

Noah and his sons worked for over 100 years, building the ark as people mocked him. When it was finished, Noah gathered his family and the animals, and God closed the ark’s door. The flood came, lasting for forty days and forty nights, covering the earth and destroying all life outside the ark.

Can you picture this? Noah, continually called people to repent and return to God. Year after year, this was his plea. I’m certain Noah went on to tell people that God had told him that He would destroy the earth with a flood, and instructed him to build an ark. God was incredibly patient… 100 years of being warned. Let’s just say… They were adequately warned.

I can only imagine how Noah must have felt as he closed the doors. He knew what was coming… JUST AS YOU AND I KNOW WHAT IS AHEAD OF US RIGHT NOW.

God removed this family from the judgment directed towards the earth that He was planning. Again, this was not intended for “His Church”, but rather, for those who continued to ignore the call to repent and change their ways.

Noah’s family and animals were spared… RESCUED… and the wicked were all destroyed by the flood.

The similarities of these two stories are resounding. Can you hear the message that God is sending to YOU right now? He is a protective Father, and has every intent to keep all who follow Him safe, and away from the destruction that lies ahead. He has used these two events to show us this very fact.

We are in the end-times. This very fact should not produce anxiety for God’s righteous people, (His church). He has just told you through these two stories what He has planned for you… TO REMOVE YOU FROM DANGER.

It is my firm belief through the years of study and prayerful conformation that this rescue will involve God rapturing us all into the clouds to be with Him, prior to pouring out the bowls of wrath that He has planned for the Earth.

However, there are many righteous people who do not believe in such an event as the rapture. Regardless of your belief, let us all come together with the knowledge of the message, “God will protect “His church” from the destruction that lies ahead. It is not necessary for us to quarrel with each other, or have firm differing discussions regarding how God will spare us. These things are not necessary, and only divide us. Let us all be together in knowing that as the events start to unfold regarding the “Tribulation Period,” that we are all united as brothers and sisters in Christ. He is aware of you and me, and will take the lead in doing whatever He has planned to remove us from harm. Let’s simply agree upon that very fact.

Now, should there still be some of you who are reluctant to accept the way that God watches over His children, let us consider ANOTHER example of what He has done in the past… The parting of the Red Sea.

As Moses led the people out of Egypt, they were finally freed from slavery and the unrighteous rule of the evil king. They were now FREE. However, their joy of this event quickly came to an end, when they discovered that the king had changed his mind, and sent his armies out to kill all of those who he had just released.

With these armies in pursuit, the Israelites found themselves trapped at the edge of the Red Sea. They though that they would surlily die. Stuck there, with no possible way out. Moses then called upon God to intervene, and right before them, the sea opened creating a pathway through, allowing the Israelites to escape along the sea floor. A miracle.

As the Roman army pursued them into the divided sea, it collapsed upon them, and they were killed as the water came crashing down upon them. However, all of God’s children were saved through the generosity and love of their Heavenly Father. He had rescued them in a way that was far beyond anyone’s logical thought process.

I invite all of you to prayerfully consider these three experiences that have happened under the direction of God. Can you decode the meaning that God has for you to understand? They are not just “stories” but rather historical events that show us the character of God, and His love for us. This same love is what He has for you. His proven chiastic of showing divine rescue still exists today.

Turn all of your worries about the future over to Him. “Let Him Drive” for a change. =)

He is aware of all of the events happening around us, and some of these things are even in His plan. Trust that He will see us through.

God is at war with the adversary, and those who have chosen to follow evil, not YOU. This battle has been going on for 6,000 years, and is set to reach its pivotal point very soon, as He will defeat satan, and remove his followers from this earth.

With satan and evil removed, can you just imagine what things will be like after this war has ended? We will be surrounded by others who are loving, compassionate, caring, and nurturing. A PERFECT neighborhood filled with those who will inspire us, rather than bring us down. We will have a new “President” or “King”… Jesus Christ. Our days will be filled with events far beyond the joyous things that we do on earth that have brought us happiness… What are those things exactly? I certainly claim to not know, but it is through the trust that I have in God to know that they will be SIMPLY AMAZING!

Here is your mission decoded:

God has shown us TWO separate times that He has brought His judgment upon the earth. This judgment has involved destruction upon those who had not headed His call of repentance.

He has also shown us in THREE events, that He rescued His children who were intended to be saved. This rescue involved divine events, beyond what our mortal brains could provide as a solution.

We are faced with the Seven Year Tribulation Period that will soon be upon us. Using these three examples, we can know for a surety that God will fulfill His plan of destroying evil upon the earth, while keeping His church safe, and removed from danger.

There is peace in Christ. There is comfort in knowing that our future is CERTAIN. We have a front seat in the greatest time of mortal history. I am excited beyond expression, and invite you to do the same. Let go of your worldly concerns. Lean on Him. Trust Him. Praise Him for the trust that He has placed upon your faith, as we continue to gather His children, and provide a greater understanding of Jesus Christ.
