God’s Wrath - For Those Who Choose To Mock Him, You MUST Read This.

For many of us, we have come to know our God as compassionate, loving and kind. He has guided us through the challenges of our life, and restored peace when things seemed hopeless. Trusting Him, through our faith, has been a concept for us all to learn while here upon the earth.

Who is God to you? Does He have characteristics that you can define? How do you see Him as it relates to your relationship? A Father perhaps? Someone who guides us, teaches, and wants us to succeed. Is He a push-over, in always getting what you want, or is He just and fair? Do you feel that He has expectations for us? How do you think that He feels when we do things that we know we should not? Disappointed, angry?

For the sake of this article, lets imagine that God is the perfect Father. A Dad to you and me. In His tutoring, He is stern yet forgiving. He pushes us to be the very best that we can be, by challenging our mortal abilities. He rejoices when we accomplish these hard tasks.

As with every father, He has some children that continually choose to disobey Him. His forgiveness seems endless, yet these children continue to disobey Him. They even go as far as spending their time mocking Him, and push to have others join them in their hate towards Him. In His fatherly way, He tries to get them on track by placing challenge in their life in hopes to humble them, and change their ways. But even then, hatred, mocking and sin continue to consume them.

Time after time, God seems to grant us forgiveness, and the hope of turning from our evil ways. He always allows us the free agency to continue on, doing as we wish, even if that means destroying ourselves in the process.

But, do you think that God ever reaches a level of emotion where He has just had enough from those who choose to disobey Him? I certainly wish that I knew.. but wait, maybe we can discover the answer to that question in the bible. Let’s look.

Romans 1:18

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.”

Nahum 1:2-3

“God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.”

Colossians 3:5-6

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience.”

Well now… Did this get your attention? It did mine. There is definitive evidence that God does have emotions other than just loving and kind, even to the point of Anger and Wrath!

I’m a bit surprised, because I have never seen God’s wrath in my own life. Have you? Think hard…Is there any evidence that we can see of God’s wrath coming down upon the earth?

I would like to explore an even that just happened several days ago. There were unprecedented fires that occurred in the Malibu area of California.

Winds that reached 90mph, fire tornadoes—also known as “firenadoes”—were observed. These rare phenomena occur when intense heat from the wildfire creates powerful updrafts, which, combined with turbulent wind conditions, form a rotating column of fire and ash. Footage captured during the Palisades Fire shows such a fire tornado swirling amid the flames.

The fires have destroyed thousands of homes, displacing over 80,000 residents. The economic toll is staggering, with losses estimated at $250 billion. As of January 13, 2025, the recent wildfires in the Malibu area have resulted in at least 24 confirmed fatalities

Tragic, right? This is almost beyond comprehension, that such a beautiful place, now destroyed.

So, am I suggesting that this was all due to God’s wrath? Impossible, right? Let’s look at some supporting evidence that might substantiate that claim.

On January 5, 2025, the Golden Globe award event was taking place in Los Angeles, CA.

“The host of this year’s Golden Globe Awards highlighted how no acceptance speech given in the first half of the ceremony included a mention of God, which quipped is “no surprise in this godless town.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser, who hosted the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday, reflected on the lack of acknowledgment of God during acceptance speeches from winners halfway through the show.

While delivering a “mid show recap,” Glaser praised the acceptance speeches as “on fire” and provided a breakdown of the most frequent groups and individuals mentioned during winners’ remarks.

Glaser identified fellow cast and crew members as the most commonly thanked group in acceptance speeches, with 11 mentions. The other group included in the tally was the winners’ mothers, with three shout-outs.

Glaser brought up how “God, Creator of the universe” had “zero mentions” before noting that “Access Hollywood” host Mario Lopez came up in one acceptance speech. She joked that the absence of God from acceptance speeches is “no surprise in this Godless town.”

Glaser’s remarks reflect the fact that Hollywood and the entertainment industry are seen as overwhelmingly secular and hostile toward traditional Christian values.”

Days later, fire erupted in the Malibu area. Perhaps all just a coincidence. I’m also certain that there were good people that lost property in the fires. Was God mad at them as well?

If we look at things from a spiritual perspective, we can see the message that was sent by God here, “God will not be mocked.” It should get our attention, resulting in a firm commitment of respect for God, and knowing that there are consequences for those who choose to mock Him.

From a logical perspective, we can see that God protects His people, but that material things are sometimes meaningless in the “Big Picture.” Homes and material things can be replaced; We will take none of them with us when we leave this earth.

In these last days, I feel that God is doing all that He can to get people’s attention in hopes that some will change their ways and return to following His teachings. Change never happens when things are “comfortable.” Most often, it takes something earth shaking to warrant a desire to change.

The purpose of this article is not to place blame on God for this tragedy. Instead, I aim to acknowledge where the responsibility truly lies. A fitting statement for such circumstances would be: “For those who choose to mock and disregard God and His teachings, they may face the consequences of His wrath, for it is written that God will not be mocked.”

I’d like to conclude with three scriptures that hopefully will get those who are wicked to change their ways, repent, and return to God.

During the Tribulation Period, (the final 7 years), God will pour out His wrath upon those who openly follow satan. Take these words as a warning, in hopes to promote change.

Revelation 16:8-9

“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”

Psalm 11:6

“Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.”

Isaiah 66:15-16

“For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.”

For those who are following Jesus Christ and His teachings, although not perfect because of our pesky sins that we continue to work through, you can find peace and comfort knowing that His wrath will not be directed towards you. He will protect you, as well as ease your worry as things unfold. That comfort alone that you can have right now, is reason enough to change your ways, for… “There is Peace in Christ!”
