Origin of fins that evolved to become fingers

Long ago, at least by the Early Silurian,
prior to the Devonian invention of lobe fins among tetrapodomorphs, our fish ancestors developed over-size, ray-fin, pectoral  fins in taxa like the referred specimen of Lasanius shown here (Fig 1).

Two of these taxa are extant. One, Coilia (Fig 1), still has oversize pectoral rays.
So this is a primitive trait in this lineage.

These pectoral, pelvic, dorsal, caudal and anal fins
developed in convergence with those virtually identical fins found in placoderms, sharks and catfish. That’s only one reason why bony fish have been, and continue to be, so difficult to nail down phylogenetically.
