Oodectes and Nasua are now basalmost primates in the LRT
The extant coatimundi,
Nasua, Fig 1) presents a striking resemblance to the extant lemur, Lermur (Fig 1), even down to the rings on its upraised tail. Now the large reptile tree (LRT, 2322 taxa) recovers Nasua basal to all Primates (including bats), the sister clade to the clade Carnivora.
It was only a slight shift involving other taxa that moved these three together.

Nasua was previously nested at the base of the Carnivora,
close to bears. Now, not so much. Eoarctos (Fig 3) is basal to bears on one clade and basal to the raccoon, Procyon, (which also has tail rings) and the rest of the clade Carnivora.
Nasua nasua
(Linneaus 1766) is the extant coatimundi or coati. Here it nests with the Oodectes, among the pre-adapid primates. Traditionally nested with raccoons (Procyon), Nasua has three molars, all similar, and no carnasial tooth, distinct from all members of the Carnivora in the LRT.

Oodectes herpestoides
(Wortman 1901; late Paleocene to Middle Eocene) is a tiny sister to Miacis and Nasua in the LRT. These gave rise to bats and primates. Note the elongate palatine. The premaxillary teeth remain in contact with each other. The premaxilla is transverse with procumbent dentition. This taxon is one of the most primitive tested taxa in Placentalia 1. The taphonomically missing jugal likely had an incomplete postorbital bar based on phylogenetic bracketing.
