THE REALITY
The area of the boxed-in walled garden that houses the screen measures just 16 metres by 28 metres. The combined height of the walls and hedging is in excess of 3 metres. As can be seen from the above image there are also several large other objects in that same enclosure. The surroundings to the south and south west are reminiscent of a scrap yard. To the east there is another walled enclosure and the north and north west are a roadway and a hard standing loading area. The image below is the 10 metre radius from the screen.

There are over two hundred such entries until such time as they seem to have given up bothering to record lack of readings in 2012 – presumably it was more of a rarity that anyone actually turned up to take readings at all.
In conclusion the Pollok Country Park weather station ranks as a strong candidate for both the worst sited in the entire UK as well as the worst observed and maintained. The Met Office takes public money for many atrocious sites like these and should hang its head in shame if this is the best it can do.
