Perplexity AI system to buy GOOGLE Chrome?!?!

First, I am a former IT guy, so I certainly THOUGHT that I was, am, up on the AI stuff (have written several articles (https://tinyurl.com/JLDArticles) on such, had several of my CTP episodes (https://tinyurl.com/ChristiTutionalist) on such) but frankly I HAD NEVER EVER HEARD OF “PERPLEXITY AI” until #TruthSocial now using them as their #AI of choice (and, frankly, IMO, it doesn’t work very well yet there).

 

Why did I say all that?!?!? WELL… just got in my #email #inbox today from #GalaxyAI (which I do use for some things, my Girl “Kennedy” (fictional female character in my latest #book) images were created by #GalaxyAI (see: /celebrities/2025/07/sidney-sweeny-dust-up-lol-how-do-you-all-not-understand-the-left-playbook-yet-2476852.html)) the following…

 

Perplexity Just Offered $34.5B for Chrome (Because Why Not?)

So, I went DIRECT TO THE SOURCE (Perplexity AI Search on TruthSocial (but, important to note: even Perplexity on TS admits IT MINES INFO FROM DATA MORE THAN A YEAR OLD so…)) and it responded: 

• I can’t open your links directly, but I can address the claim: “Perplexity offered $34.5B for Chrome.”
• That sounds extremely unlikely. Chrome isn’t a standalone asset Google would sell—it’s deeply integrated into Google’s ecosystem (Search default distribution, identity, sync, ads, web standards influence). Even amid antitrust actions, regulators are more likely to push behavioral remedies or structural separation of business units, not a one-off sale of Chrome to a third party.
• $34.5B would also be far below Chrome’s strategic value to Google. Chrome’s role in funneling search traffic alone is worth far more, considering Google pays Apple >$20B/year just to be default on Safari.
• If there was a Reuters piece with that claim, it could be:
  • Misreporting or a spoofed/hoax link
  • An opinion/”open letter” style stunt offer (not a serious M&A process)
  • A satire item amplified as news
• Real acquisitions of this scale require disclosures, bankers, regulatory pre-reads, and board approvals. You’d see immediate market coverage across major outlets and likely statements from Alphabet. Absent that, treat it as dubious.

On Truth Social’s integration: some platforms use multiple LLM/backends. Quality can vary depending on:

• Prompting/guardrails the platform layers on
• Model version, rate limits, or context size settings
• Whether they’re mixing search with generation or just doing generation

If you want, share a couple of concrete failures you’ve seen there; I can suggest better prompts or diagnose whether it’s a retrieval/config issue.

Bottom line: I’d be highly skeptical that there’s a real, board-approved, regulator-ready $34.5B bid for Chrome. If you want me to verify, paste the text of the article or key excerpts here, and I’ll analyze them for plausibility and red flags.

 

Again, given that PERPLEXITY on TS admits to only knowing OLD INFO (at minimum, ONE YEAR+ STALE) the story is probably TRUE.
