Onychodectes now close to Masrasector in the LRT
This interrelationship was previously overlooked in the LRT.
So it represents a happy breakthrough. The sloth + glyptodont ancestor Onychodectes (Fig 1) was just compared to and linked to the creodont, Masrasector (Fig 1).
Taphonomically Masrasector lost its premaxilla. So one was added here (Fig 1) based on that of Onychodectes.

This new interrelationship
modifies the latest version of the large reptile tree (LRT, 2338 taxa) by moving sloths, glyptodonts and their fanged ancestors away from elephant, phenacodontid and pantodontid ancestors and towards the similarly fanged creodonts.
MPTs dropped by about 25 when that happened. Still the work is not done.
