Ravens preseason game 3 takeaways

Here are a few takeaways by quarter from today’s preseason game between the Ravens and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, won by the hosts, 30-7.

Q1 Takeaways

• IDL giving up chunk gains on first 2 runs: 12 & 8 yards

• Overall run defense is not impressive; Packers YPC 5.6

• Joe Evans 2 QB hits

• Beau Brade TFL on 2nd & 10 at Ravens 30

Deonte Harty Bubble? Unimpressive kick and punt returns

• Faalele false start…nothing unusual here.

• Ojabo nice pressure on second series; knocks QB down

• Running game, non-existent; 10 yards

Josh Johnson looks off, certainly nothing like last week

• Two straight 3 and outs ~ 6 plays, 19 yards

• First downs: Ravens 0, Packers 7

• Offensive Plays: Ravens 6, Packers 23

• T.O.P. Ravens 4:21; Packers 10:39

Q2 Takeaways

• Great pass pro on the Johnson to Wallace 48-yard TD

• Pepe Williams beaten for an 18-yard TD

Josh Jones, an apparent blown assignment, leads to strip-sack TD for GB

• Leary stared down Ismail like he was Sydney Sweeney! Leads to an INT at Packers 28

• At this point rookies Ali and Leary look like wasted draft picks

Owen Wright injury could make the already thin RB corps even thinner.

• 39 yards rushing in the first half. No push up front meanwhile the Packers O-line handled the Ravens defensive front quite handily.

• Nick Samac’s injury could trigger some roster calisthenics

• This first half has done nothing to calm offensive line concerns. The O-line that starts in KC during Week 1 will be interesting.

• I didn’t see Ben Cleveland. Does that mean he’s a Week 1 starter or a player who doesn’t make the 53?

Q3 Takeaways

• GB O-line still pushing the Ravens D-line; Thru 3 quarters, Packers have 141 yards rushing; 5.0 YPC

• Ravens losing the turnover battle, 4-1

• Fumble by TE Riley Sharp; he better sharpen his resume.

• Yvandy Rigby, stiff and slow in coverage

• Sala with a holding penalty to negate a nice run by John Kelly

• Leary with a second interception; a forced pass; he’s lucky there’s not a “3” next to INT on his stat line.

• Ka’dar Hollman failed to contain on a run that got to the second level

• Not sure why Harbaugh insists on leaving Simpson in the game; are they that thin at ILB today?

• And there’s a Ben Cleveland sighting!

• Pepe Williams missed tackle to add to the TD pass he gave up in Q2

• Is Malik Cunningham any worse than Leary at QB?

• Beau Brade with a nice tackle at the LOS in run support. The former Terp deserves to make the team.

Q4 Takeaways

• John Harbaugh and his eye in the sky are in mid-season form with another wasted challenge.

• Green Bay clearly more physical than the Ravens

• After 24 consecutive preseason wins, the Ravens have now lost 3 of their last 4.

Tavius Robinson continues to show up; strong along the edge and in run support.

• Eye-popping bad stats in Green Bay’s favor

• First downs: 20 – 9

• Rushing Yards: 193 – 98

• Total Yards: 326 -177

• Turnovers 4 -1

• T.O.P.: 34:02 – 25:58

• Thankfully this game is over!

Wheels up!
