OTL: Flock Hopes to See Hamilton On Field in Pittsburgh
Well, folks, it’s officially Steelers week. While the matchup is always one of the more anticipated of the season for Ravens and Steelers fans alike, this year’s seems to finally have that classic shine back. With both teams well-positioned in the AFC North, it truly feels like the division will come down to these two games.
Baltimore heads to Pittsburgh on Sunday with a few extra days of rest and the hopes of bringing themselves even at 7-3 atop the division.
Quickly checking in on the injury front, the jury’s still out on S Kyle Hamilton and TE Isaiah Likely, who suffered injuries against Cincinnati.

The long week may help, but here’s to hoping they’re able to go on Sunday.
If Likely does miss time, Baltimore will rely heavily on veteran Mark Andrews and its WR corps. Andrews – who’s quietly turned things up in recent weeks – has had quite the year:
In the last 12 months Mark Andrews
1. Broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle
2. Played football 11 weeks later
3. Saved someone’s life on a plane
4. Was in a car accident that caused him to miss the end of training camp
5. Is 2nd in touchdowns among tight ends.

With the receivers, Zay Flowers continues to impress while Rashod Bateman, frankly, has been inconsistent. When he’s on, though, the two have been a fantastic duo:

These weapons, paired with a seemingly unstoppable rushing attack and MVP-caliber play from QB Lamar Jackson, have resulted in the league’s top-scoring offense by a wide margin:

So Pittsburgh’s defense shouldn’t present that much of a challenge, right? They’ve had our number in recent years, and even when Jackson is able to orchestrate what seems like a win, Baltimore has beaten themselves. Just last year, disaster struck:

Either way, it’s critical that the Ravens pull out a win on Sunday, not only for the division race, but for Arthur Maulet:

In reality, though, the schedule is the real reason. Baltimore’s next three games are against tough opponents, and while many are fixated on this stretch, it won’t get much easier after the bye week.
Ravens next three
Next Sunday: at Steelers (7-2)
Monday, Nov. 25: at Chargers (6-3)
Sunday, Dec. 1: vs. Eagles (7-2)If they’re in first place in AFC North when they enter their Week 14 bye, they’ll have earned it.

This three game stretch in 10 days is going to be brutal in December.

The Ravens will truly have to earn it this year, and if we think about who has earned it, you can’t look past Jackson. I feel like a broken record singing his praises each week, but he deserves them. And this time, it’ll be less of me and more of true legends of the game, whether you like them or not.
Aaron Rodgers acknowledges the evolution of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore:
“And that’s why it’s so impressive for a guy like Lamar to win multiple MVPs, because you’ve had years to game plan this guy. … There was a time where everybody was zero blitzing Lamar.”

Tom Brady continues to show massive respect to Lamar Jackson
“How do you stop this guy and how do you stop this Ravens high-powered offense…he has delivered yet another MVP-type performance” pic.twitter.com/RFFyw04zhU

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin continues praising Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
“He’s a challenge in all circumstances. I just respect what he’s capable of doing. I see continual evolution in him…there’s always a component of his game that’s moving forward” pic.twitter.com/gvRLuQrXuc

It’s normal to get compliments from the opposing team’s HC the week prior to a big game, but to consistently be receiving this much praise tells you something. Even his own teammate, a veteran that’s played with Matthew Stafford, Tom Brady, and Justin Herbert, is noting how special it is to play alongside him:
Kyle Van Noy raves about Lamar Jackson on seemingly every podcast episode he releases:
“Just flawless in the way he’s progressed. … He’s literally changed the game forever … I hope he keeps getting his flowers … Just the intelligence he’s shown in his progression on the… pic.twitter.com/Ijahxi3n7F
— Bobby Trosset (@bobbybaltim0re) November 12, 2024
And to all of their points, just when you thought Jackson couldn’t throw, he’s improved to the point where he’s just three yards behind the league lead with far fewer attempts:
Passing Attempts:
Burrow: 358
Lamar: 288
Cousins: 333
Geno: 342
Mayfield: 344Lamar really is coming different this season https://t.co/j04pApBw0R

The Ravens will always have a chance when Lamar Jackson is playing, and while Pittsburgh’s had our number recently, it feels like we’re due for a W, right?
Go Ravens!
