Chicago Bulls big man drawing interest from a Western Conference squad
The Chicago Bulls enter Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a 17-19 overall record on the season. The team has bounced back nicely from a three game losing streak in December by rattling off a win in four of their last five games.
Despite the recent success, the idea of trading some of the veteran pieces on this roster should still remain a focal point for the front office as the calendar turns to 2025. One notable player who is having a solid season could make a lot of sense for a former juggernaut in the Western Conference.
The Chicago Bulls could look to move Nikola Vucevic to the Golden State Warriors
In a report from The Athletic, it appears that Golden State has legitimate interest in the two-time all-star who is in the middle of his strongest season since being dealt to the Windy City.
Nikola Vučević has actually emerged as the more discussed Warriors’ trade target, according to team and league sources. The front office and coaching staff have acknowledged back to training camp this team’s need for a true stretch center, something Curry has never really had.
The Warriors are currently 18-18 through 36 games this season, which is good for third place in the Pacific division. With the team desperately needing a spark to get them better positioned for a playoff run, a piece like Vucevic makes a ton of sense.
Through 35 games this season, Vucevic is averaging 20.5 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game. The big man is shooting 55.3% from the field, 42.4% from three-point land, and 83.8% from the free-throw line. Many of these marks for Vucevic are the best in his tenure with the Chicago Bulls and the front office could look to move him while his stock is at an all-time high.
Prior to his time in the Windy City, Vucevic spent nine seasons with the Orlando Magic and his rookie year with the Philadelphia 76ers after he was a first-round pick for the franchise in 2011.
Nikola Vucevic should not be the only veteran player that the Chicago Bulls consider trading
If the Bulls are in full-sell mode and move on from their key cog in the front court, there are two other veterans they should look to move as well.
Zach Lavine is a player that Chicago has been shopping around for a couple of seasons now. He is currently averaging 23.1 points per game and is beginning to look like the old version of himself from a couple of seasons ago. His big contract could get in the way of things by trying to sort out a deal, but there appear to be a couple of Western Conference teams like the Lakers and Nuggets who have shown interest.
Lonzo Ball is the other guard the Bulls could consider trading away if they want to pursue that option. Ball has made an incredible return from a horrible knee injury that took him away from the NBA for over two years. While he would serve as a depth piece for a contender, he will certainly draw interest across the league as long as he is healthy and the price is right.
