Latest Boone Babble Means The Yankees Have Picked Their Third Baseman

We’ve all been waiting on pins and needles hoping the Yankees were going to make the final upgrade we need at third base. For the record, I will say the Yankees have made some nice upgrades to this team even if we don’t get a shiny new third baseman. However, Aaron Boone is trying to sell us all on one of the options, but I’m not buying his Boone babble.

You can’t always get what you want, and I understand that. It would be nice to have some fresh blood manning the hot corner, and if it doesn’t happen I will get over it but….stop trying to push DJ LeMahieu as the renewed guy for the job, check it out HERE.

“I think a lot of people are counting out DJ,” Boone said. “It wasn’t long ago when DJ was one of the best hitters in the American League. I just want to remind people that the reason he hasn’t is because he’s not been healthy. With health, we think there’s that great hitter still in there a little bit.”

What an odd sentence to end with….”there’s that great hitter still in there a little bit.” The Yankees can’t afford to rely on a great hitter that is still in there a little bit. It’s been five years since we saw LeMahieu the great hitter consistently. That’s not something that is just going to magically come back even with health. Sorry Baboonie, but that’s just crazy.

If this isn’t flashbacks to when Baboonie tried to sell us the same crap with Josh Donaldson then I don’t know what is. Donaldson never bounced back, and as much as I want to believe things can be different for LeMahieu it’s just not realistic. It’s also really annoying to listen to more Boone babble.

At the end of the day though, it’s what we are used to. He’s made many dumb comments before and he’s no where near close to being done making them. He’s going to defend his guys until the bitter end and then frustrate us as we listen to his insane sales pitch. I think this boils down to the Yankees giving LeMahieu every chance to play while they pay down the remaining $30 million on his contract.

My fear is that we are gonna find out the hard way that there isn’t anything left in the tank, just like we did with Donaldson. DJ can struggle and hit .200 and Boone will still pencil him in for every single game. The Yankees are going to stick it out with him as long as they can and count for other guys to compensate for what he lacks. 

More Boone babble….but is anyone really surprised?
