OTL: So Now What?

Lamar Jackson sits with a towel on his head

No, seriously, what do we do now? We just sat through another disappointing postseason that ended just as crushingly as last year in Baltimore (though in a slightly less disappointing manner overall – at least for me it did. I enjoyed watching a former Sooner win Super Bowl MVP).

Thank you, Philadelphia. Thank you. I don’t think we as a society are mature enough to handle a modern NFL three-peat. I didn’t need to see it, and I don’t think anybody else did either. Having said that, a new rival has reemerged. This Eagles franchise is one that hadn’t ever won a Super Bowl until seven years ago. Now they’ve won two. The Chiefs were in a championship drought until very recently as well.

See how quickly perception can change? Rings heal all wounds. All it’ll take for the Ravens, in my humble opinion, is one more. One deep postseason run that ends with Lamar Jackson hoisting a Lombardi trophy while purple and gold confetti rains down.

Yet, we have to sit through 51 weeks to see if the Ravens can get back to the big game. So, where do we go from here?

Well, keeping both coordinators, for once, is a nice start. Jackson’s in his prime. They’ve got a boat load of draft picks, and a lot of very talented players already on the roster. Yet, it feels as if something’s about to happen.

I don’t know what it is. But it feels as if something major’s about to drop. The Ravens have thrown themselves down this road of “contending every year” and they’ve won a grand total of three playoff games with Lamar at quarterback. Something’s not working here. I tend to lean in the direction of contending every year instead of going “all-in” but this team just isn’t complete for a Super Bowl run without a big move.

The Ravens need an add that you don’t get with the 27th pick in the draft.

I generally don’t think the fans should dictate what their teams do, but with this franchise accomplishing quite little in January over the last 12 years, I wouldn’t mind a show of force to get the people excited about the Ravens again.

Let’s get sexy. Do something cool to improve this roster for 2025.

It doesn’t need to be “all-in” but I think the Ravens have solid enough of a foundation to bet big.

What would that move be for you? A trade for an elite edge rusher? Using some of their draft capital to move up 10+ spots or so for the guy they really want? The kind of free agent splash we aren’t used to seeing? Let us know.
