Chicago Sky: WNBA is investigating ‘racial’ incident between fan and Angel Reese at Fever game
The Chicago Sky put out a statement about stopping hate in the WNBA ahead of the 2025 regular season. The Sky, and especially star power forward Angel Reese, were the subjects of abuse in her rookie season.
Reese is known for making passionate statements and having a strong personality. On Saturday, tensions were high between Reese and her rival Caitlin Clark in the Indiana Fever’s 93-58 win over the Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Clark was called for a flagrant foul on Reese that caused the second-year WNBA player to fall to the floor. Reese was upset, and offsetting technicals were called for Reese and Aliyah Boston.
The WNBA is investigating an incident from Saturday
Per Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports, the WNBPA announced the league is investigating an incident that occurred Saturday between a fan and Reese.
“The WNBPA is aware of reports of hateful comments at yesterday’s game in Indianapolis and supports the WNBA’s current investigation into this matter,” the statement reads.
“Such behavior is unacceptable in our sport. Under the WNBA’S ‘No Space for Hate’ policy, we trust the league to thoroughly investigate and take swift, appropriate action to ensure a safe and
welcoming environment for all.”

Racist language directed at Chicago Sky star Angel Reese
Per Costabile, the incident was not in reaction to the drama between Clark and Reese on the flagrant foul and was of a racist nature.
“Sources with knowledge of the situation say this statement is in response to allegations of racial comments directed at Angel Reese by fan(s) in the crowd,” Costabile wrote. “It is not in response to the take foul that was upgraded to a flagrant 1.”

The Sky planned to block any hateful comments on social media. The Fever should absolutely ban any fan who directed racist language at Reese.
