Faalele is Going to Get Lamar Killed!
Back on August 12, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken took the podium to field questions from the media. Here are two of those questions:
How would you evaluate what you saw in G Daniel Faalele in the preseason game? With him slimming down do you think it gives you more versatility what you can do with him? (Jonas Shaffer)
“I’m so proud of Daniel [Faalele]. He worked hard in the offseason [and] came in [to camp] in great shape. I think I was talking earlier that we’re excited for Daniel. He’s come a long way. He is a really, really good football player. In today’s day and age, shock value, whatever’s seen for one shot on the Internet doesn’t make a man, or a great play doesn’t make a man. As I was saying earlier, we were talking like if the Internet posts someone walking into church, it doesn’t make him a great Christian. It just means they walked into church. They picked out one clip of it. That’s not Daniel. Daniel’s been outstanding throughout all of camp and has played his rear end off, and we’re excited where he is at now and where he is going to continue to grow.”
Could you talk about some of that internet stuff with G Daniel Faalele? Do you hear any of the things that maybe some of the fans have to say? And if you do or see it, how do you respond to that stuff in that moment or with him? (Cordell Woodland)
“Well, first of all, I don’t respond to it. I’m not naive to seeing those things, but it was one play. That was one example. I can’t imagine any of us [having] one example of something in our life, and that’s who they are. That’s the silliest [stuff] I’ve ever heard in my life. It’s just the way it is. It is the world we live in, right? It’s the world we live in, and [Daniel Faalele] is a tremendous football player, he really is, and I love where he has come, but I get it. [The players] have to live it more than me. I’m used to it. I mean that’s part of the business. I should be old enough to handle [Internet commentary]. … Just the bottom line is those guys, they have to deal with it every day, those things. But I’m excited for Daniel.”
I wonder what Todd would say today about these three Faalele doozies without digging too deeply into that “internet stuff”.
Last night was a perfect example of how a stout offensive line can control a game. The Eagles won last year’s Super Bowl in large part because they controlled the line of scrimmage against the Chiefs – on both sides of the ball. This isn’t rocket science.
Yet the Ravens seem perfectly willing to send a project out on to the field that they picked up at the Dollar Store, relatively speaking, to protect the game’s most dynamic player? The same guy who in the videos below looks like the biggest kid on the block doing the Hokey Pokey instead of playing guard in the NFL?
Yep, makes sense to no one BUT the Ravens.
“Excited for Daniel?”
Color me fearful for Lamar, the Ravens season and the lost jobs that will be part of the collateral damage if Faalele remains the starter at right guard or even the Parkville Flag Football League.
I’ll say a prayer for Lamar, whether or not I walk into church on Sunday.

An actual NFL franchise, with an incredible amount of Offensive talent, is rolling out there with this as their OLine. Cutting itself at the knees to fight uphill. These two cannot play next to each other right now.#Ravens #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/2qdwHLbiKg

There is no other QB in the NFL who can do what Lamar Jackson can do. This is why you put the ball in HIS hands with the game on the line! pic.twitter.com/atqb8B10YE
