Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams makes curious comment after WR was demoted
The Chicago Bears switched up the wide receiver rotation after seeing six drops in the 24-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 10.

Olamide Zaccheaus was a repeat offender against the Giants, and he saw the consequences during Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Luther Burden was the Bears WR3 against Minnesota. The second-round rookie finished with three receptions for 27 yards in Chicago’s 19-17 win over the Vikings.
During his postgame news conference, quarterback Caleb Williams made a cryptic comment about his relationship with Burden when asked about head coach Ben Johnson wanting more targets to go to the young wide receiver.

Williams suggested that their relationship was growing with the talented receiver, but still needs Burden to prove he can trust him.
“Luther is a special talent, and he’s a he’s a young cat–he’s growing,” Williams said. “So that relationship between him and I is going to grow constantly throughout the years. And so I think that’s just a little glimpse, I think, you know, last week, one of the biggest moments of the game, the ball goes to Luther on a 25-yard curl stop route.
“And so that trust, that belief, I know who we have, what we have. And you know, when I drop back and these guys run these routes and the spacing and all of these things, of these things are right, and they’re out there. Like I said, the trust, the belief, the special talent that I know that we have is there.
“And it’s, it’s, it’s a confidence builder for me to be able to trust them and put the ball in the right spot at the right time.”
Room to grow

More News: Bears HC Ben Johnson’s strong message to WRs after drops
Entering Sunday’s game, Burden recorded 16 receptions on 18 targets for 222 yards and one touchdown. He’s shown blazing speed and the ability to make things happen with yards after catch.
However, it appears Johnson had more faith in Burden than Williams before Sunday.
Zacchaeus’ performance against the Giants might have changed that.
Frankly, Burden’s slow progression this season was easy to see coming. Burden suffered a hamstring injury during rookie minicamp and did not return to practice until late July for training camp.
Burden should see more targets in upcoming games as Williams has more faith in the former Missouri standout.
