Knee-Jerk Reactions: Ravens 23 Jets 10
The Ravens defeated the New York Jets 23-10 in a game that was a lot closer than the final score for much of the afternoon. RSR staff react to the win here.

Another ugly slugfest (slugly-fest?) in a game that we hoped would earn the Ravens some style points. The offense had another very slow and discombobulated start, putting up only three points and managing just four first downs while going 0-for third down in the first half. Lamar Jackson seems like he’s trying to play like his 2023 self, but his body just isn’t letting him thanks to his various nagging injuries. And when the threat of his legs isn’t there, this team just doesn’t scare opposing defenses. They picked it up a bit in the second half, with more creativity from Todd Monken. The offensive line still can’t run the ball when the other team knows it’s coming, and that doesn’t seem like it’s going to change any time soon.
Defensively, you saw what you had hoped to for the most part, but the tackling needs to improve, especially from number 12. Breece Hall‘s big plays in the fourth quarter were annoying, but credit to Marlon Humphrey for his goalline fruit punch to help seal the game. Kyle Hamilton had his weekly scares, but the second one sending him to the locker room feels like something we need to worry about.
When they fell to 1-5, we looked at the schedule and said, “well, 6-5 at Thanksgiving still seems doable.” It was never pretty, but the Ravens got it done, period. Now, tied for first in the division with a short turnaround headed into the Thanksgiving game and the possible return of Joe Burrow.
Giddy up.
Didn’t love the 1st half of offense at all. But the 2nd half was encouraging. Some nice adjustments from Monken imo, especially the 1st down PA game that went underneath.
Lamar’s perimeter speed isn’t there but he can still escape & buy time.
Defense has been clutch. #Ravens

In typical Ravens fashion, they made it way harder on themselves than they needed to in the first half. The offense looked clunky and out of sync, but thankfully, they figured it out in the second half and wore the Jets defense down. After a few tries, Henry found pay dirt twice (in the red zone!!), and the defense did the rest.
Huge shoutouts to Marlon Humphrey with a forced fumble to kill a drive working with one hand. Tez Walker continues to come up big. Dre Jones is a natural-born Raven.
Gotta hope Kyle Hamilton is ok on a short week.

Another ugly win where the offense looks mediocre. Lamar’s injuries and inability to run and practice is killing the offense right now.
But it’s a needed win.
Now we wait on the Hamilton ankle injury. He has shown to be a quick healer but he’s the second most important player on the team, so we need him healthy.
Onto Cincinnati!

The Ravens got through two games in a row with Lamar Jackson not looking like Lamar Jackson. Is it concerning? Yeah, but Baltimore will take the fifth straight victory. You have to wonder how far the Ravens can go if he doesn’t have a more signature moment soon. Again, take the win.
The defense looked good. There were a couple blemishes but they sealed the deal with a turnover. It’s always Marlon Humphrey, isn’t it?
Zach Orr has found out what he has to do. It may be the Jets but these Jets put up a ton of points against the Bengals and Buccaneers. It was uglier than it had to be.
I want it to look better.
I want it to be easier.
The offense will look better when Jackson gets back to his one of kind ways. Hopefully it’s on Thursday, because it’s a big game. Happy Thanksgiving. It’s good to have five straight wins.

It was neither pretty nor perfect, but it got it done.
The slow start from the offense was simply bad. Three-yard run on first down, short run or incomplete on second down, and third down failure.
Good thing it was against the Jets and not an offense actually capable of scoring points.
The defense did what they needed to, but there were far too many missed tackles to be all around happy with the defensive performance.
