Knee-Jerk Reactions: Ravens Trade for Titans EDGE Dre’Mont Jones
The Baltimore Ravens traded for EDGE Dre’Mont Jones on Monday evening, sending a conditional fifth-round pick that could become a fourth-round pick, per Ian Rapoport.

In the most important #Titans news of the day, Dre’Mont Jones is really good all of the sudden pic.twitter.com/CqkT8SpLsi

Right player, right price
A fifth-rounder for a productive, veteran EDGE whose bread and butter is pressuring the QB is exactly the kind of deal worth making, especially given EDC’s tendency to otherwise hoard those late picks like a dragon. If the player you get can help you now, you figure the rookie you may have gotten just isn’t worth the roll of the dice. I only wish, selfishly, that they’d managed to get Jihad Ward back in black and purple from the Titans while they were at it.
Now that we see the focus on pass rush, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a move for an interior D-lineman. Corner has been whispered about as well, and with Jaire Alexander’s departure, we’ll see if they make the move.
What I see, someone who can run stunts. Speed to power. Chuck Smith will have run with Jones.
We’ve already seen Orr dial up the stunt game the last two games after the bye week.
KVN, Jones & Lawson all have the ability to flip outside/inside. #Ravens #RavensFlock https://t.co/5WlwkhaLHq

Good perspective from a Titans analyst.
The run defense part stands out too. The #Ravens got gashed against Achane & had trouble setting the edge all night.
I really like the Jones fit from everything I’ve read so far. The ability to rush inside/out, power game, versatility. https://t.co/vVix9lg7G6

Solid move by the Ravens. Dre’mont Jones has 19 pressures and 4.5 sacks. He lines up inside and outside. Still only 28 years old. His PFF grade is similar to Jaelen Phillips, who Philly traded a 3rd round pick for earlier today.
Hopefully they can add another front seven guy. I’m personally hoping for Calais Campbell, who is still playing at a high level despite being 39 years old.
If all they do is Jones, so be it. It will at least be an upgrade and then we hope that Carl Lawson can also provide some help.

Dre’Mont jones is a solid start for EDC. The Ravens edge room was so bad that Jones’s 19 pressures and 5 sacks already lead the team. The Ravens also gave up nothing to get him, so it is a good trade. He isn’t the flashy add, but if you pair this with another couple of moves, we are talking.
Dre Jones helps the situation but to truly be moved it’s going to take a major investment on the Interior IMO.
Quinnen Williams would be a really nice addition with the power profiles you have in Lawson and Jones + Green and KVN.
It’d move the needle imo https://t.co/cOHsXqEPtc

I don’t know a lot about Dre’Mont Jones but I know enough that he should help contribute to the edge rush. With 4.5 sacks in the last four games that’s a good sign. That also sounds like Odafe Oweh a little. Not a huge needle moving trade but neither was Alohi Gilman, supposedly, and he’s certainly helped so far.

I admittedly know nothing about Dre’Mont Jones, but I applaud EDC for taking another swing at Edge (and a player with iDL experience). I didn’t know much about Alohi Gilman either but so far he has been a nice addition. Hoping for the same with Jones.
My biggest area of concern for the Ravens is the offensive line which seems to consistently get bullied. Let’s hope EDC can find an upgrade to Daniel Faalele and/or Andrew Vorhees, as that is where I think the biggest potential improvement could be made.
Between the balance of his base salary ($995K) & per game active roster bonuses ($255K), Jones will make $1.25M for the rest of the season. https://t.co/bY041K7bSy

We’ll have more reactions to any additional trades as they happen.
