Raiders DE Max Crosby doubles down on Caleb Williams’ take

Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby is all-in on Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.

“Our matchup was all day, you know what I mean? All day, we were going back and forth. He’s a competitor, I’ll give it to him. He didn’t back down; he kept getting back up and trying to make plays. He definitely earned my respect.” Crosby said on the episode of his The Rush podcast after Chicago took down the Raiders earlier this season.

That afternoon in Vegas, Williams passed for 212 yards with one touchdown pass, one interception, while only being sacked once and rushing for 13 yards. Since toppling the Raiders 25-25, Williams is playing some of the best football of his young career.

Williams has helped guide the Bears to wins in five of the last six games, and powered four fourth-quarter comebacks, so far this season, including as the catalyst of a thrilling 24-20 come-from-behind win over the New York Giants, in Week 10.

After watching Williams rush for the game-winning touchdown, and have some of his finest moments in the game’s final frame, Crosby doubled down on his praise of the Bears’ star quarterback.

“Caleb, he’s got all the talent in the world,” Crosby said in his latest podcast episode. “He’s got all the ability. Yeah, they pieces, bro, they’ve got pieces they paid that they invested in that team. They’re going to [expletive] build an offense just like Detroit did.

“And, Ben Johnson’s not stupid. He knows what he wants and what he likes, and how he sees it. And, the quarterback is not the problem. He’s talented as [expletive], he’s seeing it, bro, especially a young guy doing it, in the clutch like that, that’s a really good sign.

If the postseason began today, the Bears would be the No. 7 seed in the NFC, and still have opportunities with a game remaining against the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and two against the Green Bay Packers to climb the ladder in the NFC North.

Williams has been instrumental in guiding the Bears to the doorstep of the postseason, in his second season, and first working with Johnson. The Bears have a lofty ceiling, and as Crosby points out, Williams is becoming a major factor in a suddenly optimistic future in Chicago.
