Bears QB Caleb Williams sends strong message about win over Packers
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears came through with a massive statement win on Saturday night over the Green Bay Packers.
Despite struggling throughout the majority of the game, the Bears made enough plays in the closing minutes to pull out a win in overtime. Most notably, they were able to recover an onside kick with under two minutes remaining. That play saved the game and likely won them the NFC North division.
While Chicago has not officially clinched the NFC North, the team has clinched a playoff berth.
A single win over either the San Francisco 49ers on the road this week or the Detroit Lions at home in Week 18 would clinch the NFC North division win.
Following the win over the Packers, Williams spoke out with a very strong message.
“This is a signature moment for us,” Williams said. “To be in the position we are with 11 wins and everything at the tip of our fingers is exactly where we want to be.”
After beating Green Bay, the Bears control everything about their destiny. They control the future of the NFC North and if they continue winning will be able to control their playoff path. Chicago could very well be in store for a run at the Super Bowl.
Looking around the NFC, there are some tough teams. However, the Bears can beat any of them. They have proven themselves capable of being viewed in that light.
Whether or not this will be the season that Chicago actually makes a run to the Super Bowl or not remains to be seen. The talent is in place for Ben Johnson and Williams to make that kind of run. The Bears simply need to play to their full potential.
This week, the Chicago Bears will hit the road to take on the 49ers. That game is scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday Night Football.
