BOLD PREDICTIONS: Will The Ravens Stay Alive?
We hope those of you who celebrate had a wonderful Christmas, but the uplifting holiday spirit certainly doesn’t carry over to our Baltimore Ravens recently. Their postseason hopes are on life support, and while there is a segment of the fan base that is still hoping to just get in and get hot at the right time, the majority of the flock is sneering a very loud “bah humbug” to all that noise.
After another seemingly wasted season in the John Harbaugh-Lamar Jackson era, the calls for change are louder than ever. But there are still two games remaining, and until the Ravens are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention (which would happen with either a Baltimore loss or Pittsburgh win in Cleveland this week), anything can happen in the crazy NFL.
So will the Ravens keep hope alive on Saturday night? Or will the tundra of Lambeau be the site of the end of yet another disappointing campaign? RSR staff give our predictions here…

Tony Lombardi
I will keep my bold predictions nearly as brief as Lamar Jackson’s practice time this week.
- Tyler Huntley will remind us all why he’s a journeyman backup QB.
- Malik Willis will get the start for the Packers with Lamar presumably watching from one of the Lambeau suites. The announcers will gush over the pending free agent as if he’s the solution for several franchises across the league.
- Josh Jacobs will be the game’s offensive star producing 150 yards from scrimmage. He’ll take Q4 off to nurse his injuries.
- Flurries in the second half will add atmosphere.
- The game will satisfy only those who opted NOT to plunk down the $10.99 for a Peacock subscription.
- The Ravens have scored in 385 consecutive games which is the NFL’s longest active streak and the third-longest streak in league history (SF – 420, 1977-2004; Den. – 394, 1992-2017). The Packers will nearly pitch a shutout utnil John Harbaugh sends Tyler Loop out onto the field in the fourth quarter to spoil the Green Bay goose egg.
The Steelers clinch the AFCN by default and they’ll play Renegade during every commercial break next week when Mike Tomlin & Co. hosts the imposters, fka the Baltimore Ravens.

Looking ahead to this matchup at the beginning of the year, this looked like it was going to be a tough one anyway. With the prospect that the Ravens could be without Lamar and the Packers may be able to get Jordan Love back, it looks damn near impossible.
— The Lambeau crowd knows the Pack has clinched a playoff spot, and they’ll be in party mode and bring the noise accordingly. The Ravens offensive line commits three false start or procedural penalties, killing multiple drives.
— Baltimore keeps it close in the first half with an early score off of a takeaway, but the offense continues to clunk along. The Ravens are held without a rushing touchdown and fumble more than once.
— Isaiah Likely had some… less than complimentary things to say about the team’s performance last week. He outgains Mark Andrews, but commits the team’s weekly boneheaded play as a bobbled catch attempt lands in the arms of a defender and ices the game.

With Green Bay clinching a playoff spot on Christmas, do they play Jordan Love? They can, in theory, still win their division but it’s a long shot and is it worth the risk? I’m not even sure how he could clear concussion protocol so fast, especially after that hit, but it seems like him playing is very possible.
This game is almost a teaser game. I almost feel that the Ravens win, whether Love plays or not and if so, either Pittsburgh beats Cleveland and ends the Ravens’ season or the Steelers lose and then the Ravens end up losing to the Steelers themselves.
But I think this is it. Lamar is out, there just seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding the team, and I just can’t see how they overcome it.

It wouldn’t be painful enough for the Ravens to just lose in Lambeau and be eliminated. Instead, I predict – for the sake of maximum pain – the Ravens to pull it off, the Browns to upset Pittsburgh, and then another week of will-he/wont-he regarding Lamar Jackson at practice, only for the Ravens to crap their pants in the Steel City next week.
Pain.

I think last week was the final straw for me. I have lost faith in the Ravens this season. Sure other seasons have ended in disappointment but this entire season has been one big disappointment. With Lamar likely out for this game and Jordan Love practicing, his status is looking more promising. Even if the Ravens pull off this win, can we really expect all three games to go their way to get into the playoffs? I don’t think so.
I think Tyler Huntley will give a valiant effort and they will hopefully run the ball efficiently and keep this game close until the end. However there will be an ill-timed turnover that will cost them the game in the fourth quarter.

This is it the week it all officially ends for the ravens. This team simply didn’t have enough to overcome everything this year so it will end in Green Bay with a loss.
— Lamar doesn’t play and Tyler Huntley struggles, as does Derrick Henry.
— The Defense looks like they have all year: strong at times, but unable to get stops in key moments.

There’s seemingly no reason for hope for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson is out; Jordan Love is probably back……and even if somehow the Ravens pull out the victory, the Ravens would STILL need a pathetic Cleveland Browns franchise to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. BUT….that’s why they play the games….Maybe this is the holiday eggnog talking, but just for the heck of it, let’s go all in on some late-season drama.
— Henry rushes for 100+ yards and 2 TDs.
— Defense forces the Packers into 3 turnovers.
— A Festivus Miracle!
— Bonus: Browns upset the Steelers Sunday 16-13. The Steelers offense has struggled, and they are without DK Metcalf!
Christmas miracle comes a few days after Christmas for the Ravens. AFC North championship showdown is set for Sunday, January 3rd in Pittsburgh on Sunday Night Football!
