Chicago Bears running back pops up on injury report ahead of Packers game
The Chicago Bears picked up an important win over the defending Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13. The Bears extended its streak to five straight victories on Friday, moving to 9-3 and keeping its edge over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North. The Bears now sit at the top of the conference standings.
Chicago’s ground attack set the tone in Week 13. Ben Johnson relied heavily on his backfield as D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai kept the Eagles off balance from start to finish. Both running backs surged past the 100 yard mark and Chicago piled up 281 rushing yards against Philadelphia, turning the matchup into a showcase of power and control.
The Bears may enter Sunday’s clash with the Packers shorthanded, as Kyle Monangai is sidelined with an ankle injury and was listed as a did not practice on Wednesday’s estimated injury report.
Kyle Monangai’s rookie with the Bears

Monangai has been a key contributor to the Bears’ rushing attack during their winning streak. Chicago will need every bit of offensive firepower available to challenge the Packers’ fourth-ranked defense.
The 23-year-old running back was marked as a DNP on the Bears’ preliminary injury report, as the team skipped practice on Wednesday. Fans will be monitoring Monangai’s availability closely throughout the week. He paced Chicago with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries against the Eagles, while seeing one target in the passing game without recording a reception.

Kyle Monangai made a statement when stepping in for an injured Swift in Week 9, rushing for 176 yards on 26 carries and adding three catches for 22 yards. Since that breakout performance, he has found the end zone in four consecutive games, solidifying his role in Chicago’s backfield.
In his first year as head coach, Ben Johnson has guided the Bears to a statement win over the Eagles. Chicago has reached nine victories in a season for the first time since 2018, achieving the milestone impressively by Week 13.
